I thought of starting the reading habit for last 4 years but i couldnt.
Few days earlier, i just took a firm decision to start reading as it is very much useful to improve our concentration, thinking, improving our knowledge...basically a important one.
And even buying a book at my cost, i feel like a unnecessary expenses for me !!!
But today, I bought my first book ....I think now i will start reading....
Did you remember, When did you buy the first book and how it happens ?

The first books I bought was during my 6th grade in Elementary School. My classmate was selling her old Animorphs books and I love books so I bought those. It just happened normally at school and at a low price of course since they are second hand. The books are still with me now and I have taken good care of it.

I hope you picked a book that you thought would be fun to read.
I can't remember the first book I bought. My mother used to buy us books all the time. And, in school, there used to be a book club, that sent a catalog of books (I want to say it was Scholastic, but I'm not sure) and at some point during the day, the teacher would pass out the catalog and we'd order whatever books were on there. That's probably the first time I bought a book on my own, and I used to order so many, I couldn't say what the first one was.

Congratulations on your first book!!
To be honest, I can't remember when I bought my first book. Considering I have been reading since I was 4 years old, and have been buying, borrowing or stealing books...scratch out the last one..LOL...i don't steal but you get the point...ever since.
I love to read, and it will always remain as my favorite pasttime. Since books can be expensive, I would recommend that you get a library card, so you can simply borrow books. I would, in your case, buy only books that you know for sure you want to collect. The library is a good start to experiment with different genres until you find out exactly what kind of reading material are you into. Nothing is worse than spending money on a book that will just sit around at home and gather dust, never to be read, because it is not interesting enough for you.

hi
i have not read a book in ages !! but wouldnt mind if i could be bothered though hehe. i cant actually remember buying a book though. all i remember doing is my sister used to always bring books from the library and i use to read her books, because i never went to library or had a card or ever used the school librarys. and the college librarys barely had any reading books more for educational books.

I can't remember the first book I bought. But I remember the first book club I joined. You know like those DVD or CD clubs. I don't really like those because I forget to go back and buy the right number of books.
However, now I'm in the book of the month club and I get 1 book a month for $9.99 every month. That way I fill my obligation and I get the books I want for only $9.99. I don't know if that's still a good deal or not because now I'm behind reading because I have no time.

Well rkrish that's a start. Way to go. Now after you read it, let us know how you liked it.
I can't even remember the first book I ever bought. I read all the time and have for as long as I can remember. I read three books last week and started another that I am almost fisished with. Reading is my favorite past time.
Now if only I could get my kids and grandkids to learn to enjoy reading. That would be nice. :o)
Happy reading.

Yah I do remember the very first time I bought a book at my expense. I used to teach Koreans before and the moment I got to have my first 'money' ever, I decided to go to the bookstore and have some books...

It's good that you have started the reading habit. I hope you get to read more books in your lifetime. I remember the first book that I really bought with my own money was "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" although I have read already a lot of books nothing really beats the feeling of having your own book to read. I bought that book from my prize at the baguette eating contest back in college.

I loved reading books and novels when i was in high school.. but now i found it nicer to read here online. there are a lot of topics online from millions of people. you can also search for everything that you want to read. how cool is that. but reading a book is never wrong:)

I was a book worm in my childhood life, I started to read when I'm six years old. Maybe the first thing that I bought was a book. I don't remember my first book that I bought, but I still remember my first book that my father gave to me (sharing with my big brother). It was a 'learning book for preschool. It's about friendship. How I miss that time.
