Hi,friends,i want to tell you something about me,about my work.I graduated last year, when i was in college,my major is computer, four years' study on it,and now i have been a computer teacher for a whole year,i'm very happy to be a computer teacher, because that's my major.Oh,remember to tell you,i'm a teacher, and that's my job.
But everything changed, yesterday, the new academic year began,i was arranged to be an english teacher forever, though i like english very much, but i don't want to teach english as an english teacher, that's not my major, which means my four years' study on computer is just a waste of time,my job will go without computer,i just can't imagine, that's my major, they just change my way of teaching!
And another teacher was just in,replaced my place, before,i was thinking that the new computer teacher must be a man with great computer technics and skills, but it's still a student just graduated from college month ago this year,a girl too.I'm wondering why?The school is so complex,it's just a small society, any one who could use invisible ways to beat you,and replace your place. That's not fair! It's not because that i can't teach computer well,it's not because that i can teach english more better...It's really because that the new-comer has a much more big backgroud to support her. That's not fair!
I can't say anything, because i'm a common teacher, just to be arranged not to arrange others,i can only accept ...It's the society,i can only change myself to suit the society, the only thing i can do now is to teach english well, try my best to let others know: I CAN!!
so,my friends, from my story,do you have any view about the society, can i share your attitude to job or life?

I hope you have gotten used to your new designation. It does seem that your school is seriously lacking teachers. Have you spoken to the Principal about it? I feel that you should at least let the Principal know about how you feel. It's actually best for the students if you (as a computer major graduate) continue with computing and they get some other teachers (english major graduate) to teach english.
I agree with you that sometimes when we can't change the society, the only thing we can change is ourselves. However, if what we want to do is right, we should at least try to see if we can make a change in the society.
I believe life is very much in our own hands. We can always choose not to conform to the society if we think we are right and the society is wrong.

my dear friend!! don worry... if you think thats unfair what they did to you then, try leaving the job.. or else you can ask them to give back that place coz you did a major in computer!!!! unfair judgment is given to people who dont fight back!!! so just tell them what you want.... i hope you will succeed!!!!

It is most approperiate to to change yourself instead of changing the society.
man is a social animal and he cannot live all alone. there is no life possible
without society. so man have to chang himself according the changing passage of time. if man does not chang ,society will not recognise him .no body will like
himand he will not be the respected. chage is the law of nature .to change according the time is necessity of a man. this is golden rule of the sucess of
life.

I don't have any experience of teaching and administrators so canmnot really offer up much advice on that front. But I do think it is great that even though you have been pushed in a direction that was not necessarily the direction you wished to take, you are still willing to give 100% of yourself and do the best job you can do. This is a fantastic attitude to have and you WILL have much fortune comng to you in your life by being this way! We cannot always get what we want in life but we should at least give what we DO get everything we have and make the most of it like you are. Good for you!

Dear friend,
I hope until one change according to other changes it would more flexible to be on the field. Other wise I hope one may get outdated. As those techniques used during the 60's are far outdated when used in 90's. Hence I hope one has to change inorder to go according the flow. Even if the computer are more used in more places and those who do not want to change to computer services hope they may find it bit difficult. Hence I feel change is a natural process and the width of this change may be viewed as generation gap.

Thank you for sharing that wish us my friend,I enjoyed reading that story about society, and I agree one hundred percent that we can not change the society, but we can change ourselves, but I think that if everyone changed themselves for the better and did better, than the society would slowly change for the better, and it only takes one person trying to change,to make a difference, and maybe get others to try to change themselves to.

Yes, I agree with you . We could go on trying , trying and trying to change other people's views , manners etc . Yet , we might not succeed and may keep on failing .
So,it is better to try and change ourselves than others.

I think that such practices of favoritism is only in our country. Any way in our society such things are there but it is not possible that an mechanical engineer may be put to operate upon a patient in hospital. You are a computer professional and u have been made to teach English. Any way your job has not been changed you are still in the teaching profession. As you say that the new girl who has been replaced you has a big back ground and she has not been put to computer Teacher. If the new comer is also a computer teacher may be the school wants to give here some experience as a computer teacher. I think at least you have the job and same salary. Some time we have to face such realities. Possibly you may again be computer teacher from the next session.

You cant change society but you can definitely change yourself for the better. Your concern actually doenst require you to change yourself. It only gives you another oppurtunity to add more to your skills. This way, you will be flexible and experiences are add on to resumes. Dont worry, your superiors must have found positive reasons for this. You must not treat this as a subtraction to your skills but a plus plus...I am also a teacher. I teach reading, english, but I was able handle classes too which didnt fall on my expertise but I treated them as challenges....life is but a challenge after all.good luck

Are you saying that someone else came in with close family contacts to the admin? I hate when that happens. It's like that in Japan also, who you know is more important than what you know, even if you're not qualified for the job.
I think maybe you should really excel at english, try to boost your confidence and put your heart into being an english teacher, show them that you are not so replaceable.
Yes, you are right, it's better for the kids if someone with a computer major teaches the kids about computers, obviously they can't see it because they have too many social do's and don't's that they stick to first.
I don't think it will be forever though. Maybe they are simply testing you to see how you go teaching any subject. You may get your old job back in the future so don't get down about it, just think that in the future you will change back to your old job, hold your hopes. :)
I hope it all goes well for you. Are you qualified to teach english though? Do you have any experience with it?

LOL,try to face the truth.
You know what... I'm gonna be a high school student. And before the high school entrance test, i ran in a big trouble... I should be the recommended student to Attached Middle School to Fudan University. But because of the darkness of society, another student's parents paid a little, and then i was got out..
you can understand how bad i felt then. I even felt like dying, because that's my first time that i've brought into contact with the darkside of society. It really sucks, and that experience did effect on me a lot, it made me change my philosophy. I originally thought that the beginning of my life could be very successful, but i couldn't accept such a bad thing!
And i didn't do very well in the test, so I failed to go to that school...
It's shocking, right? you are right, we can't change the society, but we can change ourselves. Complaints are not so good as changes.

I agree with you that we cannot change the society, but here we have
to understand that last year you were a graduate and you are newly entered
in teaching profession as though you were very interested in computers, why cant
you give a chance to that newly comer.
you gained one year experience already in teaching(computers), and also you can
work as parttime lecturer, trainer or faculty in any institute so that your interest
can be fulfilled.
Thats what is my opinion

Maybe you don't know the fact, there's only one computer teacher in our school,if i was,she will not here today,if she was,i just leave that place, and i came last year, she just come now,we are fairly equal,it's unnecessary to replace my place, maybe you don't know something
Thank you

i m a singer. and i can not just stick to sing the songs i like and the songs i enjoy to sing. i think it is just like teaching.... sometimes you should or sometimes you also dont have the choice when people around you challenges you on a different field. i like challenges it makes me inspired to push myself on a different phase of life. goodluck with you. yes YOU CAN DO THAT.

That's always the case whenever we least expect the things to happen.. As the saying goes, if u cant beat them, join them ^_^
The same applies to u and me and everybody.. The society is so big and we cant expect them to change just for us alone, instead, minority should always follow the majority and thus most of the time, we have to change ourselves to suit them in order to get what we want..
And so by changing, we are no longer ourselves, instead, we are more like robots, doing what ple are telling us to do.. ANd it's not fair, but there's nothing much we can do about it, unless one has got other resources to fall back on ^_^

Hi ifglan,
Sometimes life is it seems unfair when all your hopes have been dash, but that is just life testing you andit is not your time for that position and you it your destiney to teach English and you will do it well and enjoy it. also women can do anything a man can today and sometimes they can do it better, don't you think this woman has worked really hard for the position she has got now? she had to work harder as it is a man's world so she has done well and well done to you as well.

Yes I agree as long as it's for the better we really should. As they say if you want to see change then be the change yourself. Well changing ourselves to fit people could be good as long as you maintain balance

the society we lived in is sometimes unfair. but its about our attitude on how to face the challenges it brings. before i also have experienced unfair treatment in my job. i cant stand it, so i find other opportunities, and by God's help i found one and then quit my previous job. the present job is so much better. btw, im also a computer (IT) by profession, i also have my master in computer. i guess, if you are still happy with your work, then continue to do it, if not there are a lot of opportunities waiting for you out there. IT profession is in so much demand today. you have a lot a areas to get into. i hope you will find your path.
