for instance, in the middle of a conversation, i would just drift away for several seconds (of course I'd come back. it'd be rude if the person you are talking to finds out you're not really "there") when the person I'm talking with mentions something which brings to mind another thing. or, in the midst of a movie, my eyes would lose focus and i would imagine myself as the character and what i would do in the situation.
is too much daydreaming bad? i mean, i haven't been caught not listening 100%, but sometimes i am afraid that this could happen and lead to a misunderstanding but i can't help it if i drift off once in a while. what should i do about this bad habit? or is this bad, in your opinion? i need your thoughts on this please :)

I'd tune out sometimes, especially if the conversation becomes boring. I'd pretend to look interested, but my mind is on something else, or somewhere else.
However I must remember to tune back, make necessary noises like 'ya, right' or interject some senseless questions like 'why? how?' - so that no one suspects that my mind has taken a brief ride somewhere else!

I have to admit I tune people out sometimes. I think its sort of rude but if they don't realize it then I'll keep doing it. Sometimes Im unintersted in the conversation or I just want sometime to think and to free up my brain. If someone is constantly yapping and Im in "think mode" I get a little irritated and tune them out. I usually jump back in the conversation with little remarks. I dont think Im that great at it but now Im used to it. I know what expression to use at what time. Sometimes my expression would be total opposite of their mood or feelings. Plus when you don't listen you don't really hear how they say certain words.

hey. i haven't thought of it that way. maybe you're right. if we sometimes get lost in our thoughts, it just shows that we have a very active mind :)

It happens to a lot of us. Especially when we have a lot things in our mind. Having said that it however important to get control of yourself, like you do so that the person you are talking to does not get the impression that you are not listening to him.
