I can... There are people who felt uncomfortable when their bed has no mattress. My husband can not sleep in bed without mattress but me, I can. People in some countries even sleep in a hard bed with just mat in it and they are fine. What about you? did you experience sleeping in bed without mattress? Hows the experience? back ache, neck pain and all the pain? that's the complain of my husband when we have outings or camp out and no comfortable bed to sleep. what about you? Just curious to hear your story.

I cant. I think it will be too hard on the back, or the side. I sleep sideways. I willnot be able to relax and sleep. we use an orthopedic bed. the matressis very firm, but not hard. just not soggy.happy sleep, nightie night.

well, if you are not used to, you will be having a hard time. You might think it as a persecution... But for those who lived like a military or cow boy, they can tolerate it.

What do you mean a bed without mattress? As in on the e.g. wooden planks? Geez, I haven't tried that before and I doubt I would want to. I would rather sleep on the floor or ground than on a bed as I described that is without a mattress. Over here, I think mattresses (if you are not too fussy about the quality) are a lot cheaper than beds. I can't imagine someone getting a bed instead of a mattress if the choice can be only one of the two. Geez, why? Anyway, do as you please Bebs. If you prefer, sleep on a bed without a mattress. As long as you feel happy and comfortable, I am glad for you. Cheers!

Sorry I didn't mean to sound thoughtless... I have no idea the bed is more expensive than the mattress in other parts of the world...

I am talking about people from the country outside America who was used to sleep on hardwood bed because that is the only thing they can afford, they are fine with it. But for people who grew up with soft mattress, it is really hard I know.

Well...I have slept on the floor and with sleeping bags before...Wasn't comfortable but nothing that I cannot deal with. On a few of these occasions I have gotten some back aches, but that was probably due to me not being used to it at all.

I really prefer to have a bed. But if I am tired enough I will sleep just about anywhere. Including standing up. My wife hates it but I suffer for it in the end. My back will be out of whack for days if I sleep anywhere but in a bed.

hahaha you make me laugh when you said, you can sleep anywhere including standing.. It is funny maybe to see somebody sleeping while standing.. But you might be right, if hey are in a long line and they are very tired of waiting already, sure I could imagine that they would be standing there sleeping..

well, if you are not used to sleep in a hard thing ever since in your life, it would be a misery in your first try..Oh yea, but for those who grow up sleeping in a hard bed, it is just like nothing. they even be uncomfortable sleeping in a soft bed because they are not used to.

Hi Bebs, I have no problem when it comes to that! When we move to my Mom's province, I was 8 that time and our floor was a bamboo and bed also is made up of bamboo, no mattress at all! LOL! SO, even up to this time, I can handle sleeping on it with maybe a little pain on the beginning now that I am not use to it but for sure I can still handle it, my back will still miss it! LOL!

Hi Che, I can relate to that. I had also experienced sleeping in a bamboo bed with no mattress I am fine with it. But for sleeping on the ground during camping? I always have that experience so, I can handle things like that.

I don't think so. I can probably sleep on the grass or white sand but certainly not a bed without mattress. I never go camping but if I have to sleep on a bed without mattress I might as well sleep on grass or go to the beach lie down on the white sand. That's what I do in summer actually, I would go to nearest beach and sleep on the white sand there.

There you go...if you can sleep on the grass and white sand you can do it also in hardwood. It is just a matter of practice and getting used to it. But I know it is more exciting to lay on the grass or sand than on hardwood.

Dear friend, When I used to have backache I used to sleep in bed without mattress and it is much effective for getting away from back aches too. It also helps for a better flow of blood circulation too. More much of pains in body too can be relieved.

When I got my first place, I couldn't afford a lot of things. One thing that I did have was the OLD springs that the mattress goes on top of. I was actually putting a couple of sheets over the springs and then go to sleep. It was not the best to sleep on, but it was better that the floor.

Good day... I'm used at sleeping on the floor and with no mattress. I mean I hadn't experienced back ache, neck pain or anything like that. I felt good actually on them and up to now I still sleep on one.

I can sleep anywhere. I've slept on the couch, the floor, in a chair, on a bus, even standing up once! Sleep is associated with an actual bed, but not everyone is so fortunate. Think outside the box ya'll!

A good mattress can make or break your sleep. You can not deny the fact that mattresses can give you a more comfortable sleep plus some of the modern mattresses these days have medical uses. So for me, sleeping without a soft mattress is a big no no. =)

Well, your choice. I know it is hard and for this time, why should we do that when we have comfortable beds? But it is an advantage to those who can tolerate it because if there is an emergency whatever, they are fine sleeping without mattress.

No I can't as I wake up totally stiff and I know that because I slept on a hard Mattress a few times and it certainly did not do me any good at all, I suffered a stiff Neck for Days lol so I prefer with the Mattress

bed - bed with mattress
Hi there! I can also sleep in a bed without mattress. In fact when I was still a kid I use to sleep on hardwood with mat only. The experience was fine. I don't feel any back ache and I think its just a matter of getting used to it. It even helped me with having a good posture because my back is always flat on the wood. Unlike on mattresses where your back tends to curve a little especially when the mattress is too soft. Ciao!

Hi friend,I can never sleep without a mattress. But its healthy to sleep on a hard surface. You would never get back aches and neck pains.Doctors say that Sleeping on a hard surface without pillow and mattress is very good for health. But when you get accustomed sleeping on the mattress its difficult to give up and sleep without it.Have a great day.Keep mylotting.

I can sleep without a mattress on the bed, or just by putting a mat on the floor too. But then i have a very disturbed kind of sleep as i;m not used to it. But if i have to i don't mind it because sleeping like that continuously many times you tend to get habituated to it. currently i always sleep on a mattress so if i don't get one then my body just pains a little..very little. However there are many times i have slept on the floor or by just putting a mat on the floor.
