Are you a positive or a negative thinker?

As defined a positive thinker is the optimistic person who sees life in the brighter side while negative thinker is someone who thinks that this is the worst possible in the world and all things are towards the evil.
As a person sometimes i ought to be a pessimist especially when my mood is down. though this past few days my life is gloomy, i am proud to say that i can still hang on with my patience. because my son was always there to brighten up my day.
does my discussion have a sense, i hope so too. but i feel so low right now.

I honestly tbink I was born a positive thinker, but, because I was raised in an extremely dysfunctional family I learned to think negatively.
As I've gotten older I've found that the positive side of myself has been shining through more often then not (even though I still think negatively only because that's how I was 'trained' to think).
As a result of how I was raised I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Major Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Severe Anger Issues along with other disorders, but, I find that the older I get I'm able to look on the bright side of things.
As it stands right now, because of my many mental disorders, I can't work and live on Disability and have been for the last 5 years.
What helps is that I'm a born again Christian and have accepted Christ as my personal Saviour. Knowing Him the way I do helps me to put things into perspective because I know that He is taking care of everything and loves me very much and ultimately He has everything under control. In the end He is the victor!! Yay!! Just knowing this eases my mind considerably.
I'm so glad that you have your son to brighten your day and ease your mind a bit!

I was raised believing in the power of positive thinking. My parents even had the book by that name written by the Evangelist, Robert Schuller. So, I have always thought more positively than negatively. Recently I've been reading material like The Secret and other books regarding the Law of Attraction, so I have taken that positive thinking to new levels because I also understand that negative thoughts can be powerful too.

I am a positive thinker nowadays, but I used to be a negative thinker. What changed my mind was losing my brother and having my cyst removed.

I always try to do the best with every situation.
Today I encountered a really rotten situation with an old and dear friend and have already forgiven him.
I would not say so until he approaches me because the ball is in his court.
The option is there in spite of everything.
That's the best way.
Isn't it ?

negative thinker here, too :)
but as you correctly pointed out, our children makes us strong enough to face life's problems. life wouldn't be as exciting if there were no difficulties, and i think that's basically what makes life worth living :)

Your discussion certainly have sense. I like to see things in a positive way, not just for my ownself, but for the benefit of all around associated with the matters.
After all, things can't be perfect and the way one wants all the time. But, there will be times when things come as one wishes.
Have a nice day !

I went through a period in my life where I felt pretty worthless. I sought counseling & learned to think more positively. It's hard to think in a positive manner when you look around & see everyone doing so well. We struggle financially & all around our family are individuals driving big SUV's & living in huge houses & appearing to be quite happy with themselves. I've tried to come to the realization that not everyone is going through what you think their going through. There are struggles in life for everyone regardless of their situation. This realization usually pulls me through but I have dark days when nothing goes right & I just can't seems to pull myself out of the rutt. But the next day is just fine & I pull on my big girl panties & be happy & satisfied with life. It is tough but we all have to take it one day at a time.

i am a balanced thinker...i try to weigh the positive and negative choice, and come to a middle point that is best. i tend to be a thinker, so i think too much about everything, making sure it is a balanced choice, and doesnt sway either way.

I have always been a positive thinker. Long ago I figured it wasn't worth my time and energy to be negative about everything. There are so many negative things in the world right now. I am trying to wean myself of people who are constantly negative, only seeing the bad side of everything or finding the bad side in people and life. When you have too much negativity around you I really believe it wears off, can bring you down no matter how positive you are!

Hi rikkabren, i used to be a negative thinker when i was young. I will always think of those worst things that are going to happen to me and peopel around me. When i was in primary school, there were few things happened to me and change my mind. I start to get rid of negative thinking.

Life has its ups and downs, and our moods are like skies -- now sunny, now cloudy, but they are not permanent; they come alternately. Over the years I have learnt a strategy from some Buddhist monks to overcome the bad mood: to do meditation, to let the thoughts -- irrespective of their nature -- to come and pass as they like.

This is something I've been doing lately too. I've been reading and practicing meditation over the last few months and I find it a great way to put your mind in check and be the gatekeeper so-to-speak of my thoughts. Now I more easily recognize the negative thoughts. I stop them at the door and replace them with positive assertions.

I'm negative. I can't really seem to help it, I just fall back into a cloud of sadness kind of easily. My hormones don't help, but sometimes I just feel really happy for no reason. I'm working to improve what I don't like about my life and try to learn how to socialize with people so I can feel like my voice is heard.
