Players on Spain's Olympic basketball team defended a photo in an ad showing the players using their fingers to apparently make their eyes look more Chinese. What can you say about this photo, is it offensive or not? For me as an Asian, it's not offensive, in fact they're cute in this photo & I love it. I agree with Pau Gasol, he defended their photo & said that it was "absurd" people were calling the gesture racist. What can you say about this photo?

I find it cute as well. They are all handsome ha! I believe there is nothing offensive with that picture. If I were a Chinese, I will be proud for at least these handsome guys would even want their eyes to look like mine. I believe the Chinese need not get offended. I think they don't mean anything negative with that gesture and there is nothing racially prejudiced with that photo. As I said... I find it cute just like your Aviatar!

it is not offensive..if people think this is offensive then they have a very narrow way of thinking..not just because they had make their eyes look smaller means that they are insulting other nation..we do not all have the same way of thinking so i think it is just a misunderstanding..and the Spain did not mean anything when they did that..

hello jinxky, I agree with you.i also don't think it is a ofensive photo as chinese.I think we come from different areas of the world,so we have the different gestures to express ourselves to others. So I can understand it.It could be consider as a funny Men's Basketball Team photo,no any offensive sense.I could not feel it.It is my opinion.lol
good luck

LOL,i agree with you...that's just a way of showing their cuteness to China, and their wishes to Beijing. I don't think it's an ironic pic. the broadcast media was stirring a storm in a teacup. This phiz is a local culture, a spanish culture. some public voice is really 'absurd'.
