We all do our bits to stay and look fit. We exercise, do diet, we gym and do what not!
Even I am into dieting big time. But I am not a freak and know what's right for me.
Recently, I am more into 'internal jogging' though. I am after it like anything. They say it actually helps contract and expand our muscles rhythmically so much so that its better to laugh for 5 minutes than to exercise for five hours.
Continuing to laugh with all our heart, we will begin to see and feel the change. Our health will be improved and our life will change.
Isn't that great?

I'm favoring stretching right now. Keeping limber helps every day movements create stronger muscles and enables greater flexibility -- which mostly I'm after because it helps with speed in a fight (which has been known to be needed before in my lifetime).
I also kinda like tai chi and I'm most fond of running, though I haven't been able to do as much as that this summer, or lately, since I pulled a muscle and have been limping the last few days.

I have no fitness programme at all. Whenever I am upset or depressed I loose weight and when I am happy I put on weight. My weight has been fluctuating throughout. Now this past one month I have reduced a lot. Just about manage half an hour walk everyday.

My fitness secret is to stay happy and to always exercise. I'm really not particular with what I eat it's how much I eat. I admit I eat unhealthy foods but of course I only eat little of it and I eat a lot of veggies and fruits too.

I just do some dumb bell exercises 3 times a week. Jogging sometimes. But I do watch my diet. I usually eat oatmeal most of my mornings. My advice is to avoid the 3 things that doctors tell you after a hypertension diagnosis- too much salt, sugar and bad cholesterol. Also, I make it a habit to sleep at least 8 hours a day.
I am not bragging but most of my friends tell me that I don't look my age, they say I look younger. I thank God for that. Health is wealth.

Great!
Oatmeal is actually excellent and refraining from sugar and fat helps controlling cholesterol. You are right on!

I think that I may be a fitness fanatic!! I mean over the past three years I have bought three machines from Best Direct - their Gazelle Freestle xl, Ab Lounge xl and the Totalgym xli! I exercise on these three times per week and you won't believe how big my waist used to be. All of a sudden though it has disappeared and I feel a lot better inside for doing the exercise. You're right about the laughing side of things though, I need something to make me laugh on a regular basis! I think Mr Bean could probably do it!!!

I'm far from a fitness freak mysef Mimpi. After all that I've been through my fitness mantra is simple.
Eat well, sleep well, have good thoughts and try to be happy.
I make sure i get a good laugh as well and as often as i can. Deep breathing and a good stroll is something that i've started and trust me it really helps.
I'm noticing the change already.

Simple is actually good! We need not have to follow a strict regime in order to be fit! Glad to know that's working..
Will teach you the ABCs of laughing tomorrow.
See ya.

Laughing 5 minutes is a lot more fun and economical, too. I have a little mini trampoline that I like to jump up and down on and sometimes I use little hand weights while I'm doing it, but probably the most frequent exercise we get is running up and down the stairs.
When we bought our home many people said to get a downstairs unit because then when we got old (?!) we could get in and out easier. I said we will get an upstairs unit because I like the view better and going up and down is good exercise. If we made the wrong choice we could always sell. Then they said the resale price would be higher on a downstairs unit. Ah, but I have no intention of selling. I love our condo. The downstairs neighbor even likes to climb up our stairs sometimes to watch the lightning storms during monsoon season.
If push came to shove we could always get one of those stair lift things, but I would just use it for the grocery bags, as I would still considered walking up and down the stairs good exercise. Probably when I am 110 I would not run up and down any more. Now that mental image should give anyone a laugh!

Not really! You are a sweet heart!
Climbing stairs is actually a good exercise. The whole day in the hospital (I wrk there) I spend without using the lift. I always climb up and down. That feeling of sweat and pantings itself makes me happy.

Hi Mimipi, This sounds good to me, being such a happy optismistic person myself I can really relate to what you are saying here and laughter is indeed the best medicine in life. Children laugh a lot and are stress free and stress is the root cause of a lot of health problems eh! Huggles with los of laughter my friend. Ellie :D

Yes darling
laughter is the best medicine and it works wonders. Just look on the mirror and start smiling, then continue it to giggling and then burst into laughter. And see the difference. The face and the neck muscle feel so relaxed. Look into your eyes, they are sparling, aren't they?
Huggles with lots of laughter my friend.
(that's maximum smileys I can post here!!)

Internal exercise does do a lot for your muscles, especially your stomach muscles.
I have a routine that I do almost everyday (Ihave fibro.) I start with stretching, then I walk for half an hour on my treadmill, then I do 100 scrunches and some other floor exercises And I finish up with weights, but the are light weights 5 and 10 lb. weights. It really helps me try and beat this disease. I find that if I miss a few days to a week,I feel like I'm starting over again.

lol...no other health secret besides being the mother of a toddler and handling 19 kindergartners every day...and yes, I do get down to their level to do everything...it helps that I'm on the shorter side and that I have inherited the healthy genes from my father. It makes me LOVE to walk and run and jump and be physical and not think of 'exercise' (which is actually just part of my daily routine and not consciously executed routine) as something I have to make the time for. It also helps that healthy food is my favourite kind of food and I usually don't get junk food into the home...so indulge in it only once in a while.
I also agree that laughing gives a positive energy which helps in the overall fitness of the person. When I am with the children, I feel so energetic and lively. It sure makes a difference:) I also KNOW that being positive and being able to really FEEL it makes a lot of difference than any sort of physical exercise.

yes kidding with the kids is a great way to de stress and relax. It helps us bend, stoop, crawl do what not....and guess what we are always on toes. That helps a lot!
Thanks.

I go for morning walk but sometimes due to one reason or other, I skip it. I do light exercises in the morning, whenever time permits me. I think, we are required to burn our calories one way or the other, while doing our daily chores. Whatever we eat must be burnt. Another thing I do sometimes is, I skip my lunch on Sunday, once I have taken heavy breakast. Skipping one time meal, specially on a holiday, when you are sitting idle at home, does help me feel better.
Thanks for reminding us that to move ahead in life, we are to remain 'fit'.
Good post!

Hi mimpi1911! The only diet i have right now is, "When I see food, I eat it".. haha..just joking! I have been so relaxed and lazy nowadays that I haven't been exercising lately. It has been some time now that I am psyching myself up to get back into action and start moving my muscles or fats. haha..But I am curious with your method of laughing for 5 minutes each day. I think I will search more on that. I would really love to laugh more than to exercise more. haha..
Take care always..God Bless!

I take the dog for a half-hour walk in the fileds behind our house twice a day.
That's an hour of steady exercise as the paths are quite steep and I read that walking a dog was better than a hard gym workout as you don't wrench things!
Seems to do the trick for me, as my blood pressure is very good for a 57 year old. I'm a bit overweight, but who isn't?

Hi Michael
walking the dog is a good exercise I guess. The dogs are exuberant while on their walks. That makes our walking vigorous.
Happy dog walking!
