Hey - Hello. So I have just started selling stuff on ebay and I can see why everyone is talking about their fees being too high.. This only just happened?? Did I start selling too late- just after the price rise? What do you think is the future of Ebay? So many other companies are doing the same thing now with cheaper listing fees, but without the massive buying community.. What do you think will happen to ebay? Which other sites if any, do you think might take over?

I sell on both LDBidz and eBay..
The dif with those to sites is that LDBidz is free to list and eBay is not so even if you sell or not you still pay the service.
I think another site can take over but it all depends on the members of the site if they come together and support one main auction site then you would have some movement.. but if you have members going all over the net spreading to dif sites then i doubt another site can take over but still possible..

So you use two sites? Do you find the customers any different? I kind of think that even though the fees are ridiculous at Ebay, you get a better price for your item. I'm not sure, do you have any experience's like that?
I hope ebay gets cheaper, or some other free site would build up and become as strong as them, with as many customers. The sites that win are usually the free ones.

The fees are high and eBay seems to be looking to push all of the small sellers out by eating into their profits.
In my opinion, eBay is looking to end the auction-type listings and prefers to have people selling items with a fixed-price listing. They are also eliminating all payments by check and money orders in a few months, forcing everyone to use Paypal.

Yes I heard that also. The fact they own paypal is really their game. They make everyone use paypal, that way they can lower their fees on ebay as paypal will take that money anyway. I don't like the idea of no auctions either? They seem to want to take the fun out of it, and fix what isn't broken to begin with??

You're complaining about the fees being too high now??? I started selling probably 5 years ago. I think this is the lowest I've ever seen the fees.
I think eBay is not as big as it used to be and that's why they have reduced their fees, but I still do not imagine another site taking over.

Yea, I don't think another site could dominate now either. I know ebay did cost more to list an item before, but wasn't the end % cost much lower? Meaning it was cheaper before? I guess it depends how much your products are worth and what your mark up is. So you have been selling ebay for 5 years now? Wow, congrats! May I ask do you have a store? Also, do you sell the same type of products, or just any old thing? I am thinking of heading niche, and becoming a power seller, yet I'm not really sure of the best method to do it yet..

It's a matter of balance, you have to know how much you will be charged before posting anything at all, therefore you should know what to expect if your item sells for the price you want or not.
After that, consider the fact that several times eBay throws some promotion with some extra rebates and stuff.
I'm not that much of a seller, but more a buyer, and I've taken advantage of some rebate coupons on my purchases.
