ever since i was a little kid, i always wanted to be a writer, that is my ultimate dream job up to now... if only im gifted with creative writing, i would definetly go for that career path.. too bad, I realized that no matter how I tried to be good at writing, I always ended up incapable of creativity.. I believe I'm creative, I've a creative imagination and I'm animated.. the problem is I can't really be as articulate as putting it into words and make page-turner stories.. I can write well enough but not good enough.. maybe good enough for some short essays but not all the time.. it always depends.. and it only seldomly happens.. my grade in english back in school wasn't that impressive, i don't really fail but just average... I call myself a frustrated writer..lol. am I the only person who feels this way? or do you feel the same too? do you aso dream to be a writer? tell me your story.. and for those who think they're good in writing... I want to receive comments from you guys of my writing.. hehe. just to know where I'm standing..lol.

I am a writer, I can say now with 3 stories of mine published in a state magazines and another 10 making it to the local magazines.] I always dreamed to be a writer and pen all the ideas I get on a paper. Later try to work a story out of it. Some times they turn out to be good stories and most of the times find the basket.

hi there. trying is never a bad option. me myself is also believe in errors but we can always correct our errors when writing. if you get the job you will be very careful in constructing your sentences or less your clients will just go away and find another writer

mistakes are part of life. i often commit mistakes (grammatical, spelling, punctuation) when i was a new freelance writer. but then i just learned to review my work before finally sending it so as to make sure there are no more errors.

Hey!You're not alone. I used to feel the same way. And until now I am not sure if I am living in the real word of writing.
Anybody can write as long as he can think. Many are like you who think you can't do it. Don't ever think that all writers has all the confidence above their heads. Some are just lucky to have a good editor. I started to have a bit of a confidence when I enrolled in my journalism class in college.I had no idea that time.I would pass my papers blank because I was not so sure how to start to write. But friends helped me,and reading helps a lot.Basically, writing comes from the heart. Write what your heart wants to say about a certain matter or subject.
No one is perfect, I have a friend who used to join writing contest in high school, and she never win at any of it. But she pursued, and became a reporter, she did not finished her college journalism degree but now had won several awards and scholarship.
If you are familiar with the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books..check out the one for "the Writer's Soul" and you will be surprised that many are like you,us.
So don't stop dreaming. If you want it, you will achieve it.
I hope to read more from you soon!

yeah i also dreamt to be one although it's not my ultimate dream, i've always thought of being a writer someday. even not as my main profession, i hope someday i could write a book, or be a freelance writer in lifestyle magazines. i also wanted to write biographies of persons not necessarily famous but with distinct or special facts in their lives.

I have looked kindof into, but, I haven't found any real, legit sites that will pay for your writings. Do you use a site or just look for local jobs?

i think you are being too hard on yourself to be honest. i think you should just try and write. it doesnt matter what its like at first (thats why you edit). go to the library and get books out on how to write and that sort of thing...also i am sure there are websites that will help you with that too.

hi fried.. just keep at it...ehehehe...well, we have to work hard to achieve our dreams... you know, i stutter when i talk.. i can write my thoughts on paper but couldn't articulate it when speaking oral english. i just ended up stuttering and worse,my mind went black...wah... embarrasing...
i am a decent technical writer. i love technical writing.. i am not much into creative writing... hhehe...unlike you...
but i kept up at it.. now i can be able to speak proficiently without thinking much about it... LOL...
anyway...if you call yourself a frustated artist.. i call myself a frustrated multimedia artist.. i recently met someone who brought me down a couple of pegs. i thought, i was really good.. .wah... it means. i got so much to learn... LOL...
well, you are on the right path... keep it up... practice, practice... if you notice, great authors use imagery.. it takes patience to develop such imagery that you can let the readers see in their minds, what you want them to see...
happy mylotting and wish you can write a great book someday.. .would be nice to know someone who will be a best seller author or novelist... hehehehe

I entertained a dream to become a kungfu novel write when I was very yong. Since I watched lots of sowordsmen film as a small kid, I imagined that it would be fanstastic supposed the fictional storyline had been created by me. It was just a daydream however. Once I mentioned the dream to my family, they all laughed at my ridiculous idea. "It is not possibe", they said! " All u have to do is just to work hard and make a progress everyday so that u will become a doctor. Then I bear this in mind always. Later, u know what, my major is medical science. The gap between me and a writer will never been filled up with since I am far away from a writer. Not withstanding, I still admire writes.

I have also dream of being a writer sometimes. I don't think I could write a good novel or anything like that. But I could easily be a writer in a magazine or newspaper. I have also started typing out all of my favorite recipes in pretty basic form so anyone could cook. One day I hope to publish it even if it is just enough copies for family and friends as gifts just to say I published something. Grade 9-11 I received awards in English class all the time for things I did.

I am not writer but want to write some articles in the forums. I have been told that to write for the forums a good command over the language is required. Most important is creativity means you are able to create ideas and new innovations which you may be able to execute in articles or stories. A story can not be written without positive imagination. I am post graduate but still I am not able to write a good article. I have been in the job of a Defense Council in the departmental matters & have been writing my arguments a lot but still I am finding some possible site where I can learn how to write. If any other member know can help me also.
Virtually writing is only this what we are writing in our discussion and responding and even these writings can be converted in to small stories.
Do not worry go ahead to write lengthy and meaningful discussions and one day you will be able to write articles. Good Luck.

I have never had a dream of being a writer ever in life. I hardly read any books as in novels, literature etc. Educational and IT related book i have to if i need to survive lol... I am creative and imaginative too but some how i have never had that interest of being an author of a book as such.
To be a story writer i must say one must be really good at beating round the bush to get the story longer and longer. I have noticed that many times.

you're writing is good. i think it should just be enhanced. maybe enrolling in a creative writing course will help, and practice, practice more. :-) i myself wanted to be a creative writer or any writer of that sort. i used to write in our elementary school journal (lol) but of course, the articles and poems i wrote were just simple. up 'til now, i wanted to write poems and stories. i accomplished having to write poems but i never really published them coz i also don't think they are that good. when i write stories, i always have the plot in my mind but the same as you, i have difficulty in putting them into words. i usually start writing the intro part then never finish the whole story. hehehe. anyway, i have this dream and i think i'll just keep on trying and maybe enroll in a creative writing class someday when i have the chance. good luck!

When i was at school, i did wrote a short story and send it to a teen magazine. It never got printed and i got discouraged afterward. I have a lot of imagination and i can come up with a lot of story, but i don't seem to have the gift in writing them down..
But i always wonder, does all celebrities comes with that gift? How come they can produce a book about anything?

these sometimes made me wonder too and some i find it funny. But one thing I learned about the truth behind this after I asked my writer bestfriend that how come people like Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton ironically claimed they've written and published books but they're chosen as one of the dumbest celebrities in People Magazine... and she told me that it was only presented it that way for publicity but actually, the book usually mentions the "real" author and only states "as told by....". well I guess it makes sense..lol.

You have so many responses that I don't know if anyone has already said what I am about to say, so I apologize if I'm repeating someone.
I've always had a gift for writing. Not a great gift, to be sure, but I am creative. I have won some awards and had a few small things published, one being a short story in a national contest! Okay, I didn't win first prize; I only got honorable mention, but that was good enough for me!
I have written a few books since then. One is a 'How To' book. The others are science-fiction/horror. I've always wanted to be another Stephen King, but that won't happen! LOL There is only ONE Stephen King!
You don't specifically need to write well, you simply need a good story line. What every writer DOES need is a good agent. They find the publishers for you. A good editor will 'clean' up your work. The publishers handle that aspect of it.
So, if you can find a good agent, you're good to go! I cannot really comment on your writing since all I have to go by is what you've written here, but you seem to be well-spoken and articulate. You get your message across and that's a very good start.
You should start off by writing what you know. Don't try to create fiction right off the bat. If you have some great family memories, work on that. Build them into a story. If you have a gift for gardening, craftwork, creative or time-saving cleaning ideas, write a 'How-To' book.
Once you get your foot in the door with a non-fiction book, you can turn toward fiction writing, if that is your desire. You don't necessarily have to have a gift for creative writing, you just need a creative mind. Put everything down on paper and a good agent/publicist can turn it into a book for you.
Good luck!

You have certainly said it all. Write what you know is number one, the second is perserverence. You would be surprised at the number of famous authors whose manuscripts were rejected hundreds of times before they were accepted. Stephen King and J.K. Rowling are two of them. And yes, a good agent. If you are writing fiction you need an agent, not submit directly to a publisher. Non-fiction is different.

I never dreamed to become a writer but i really want to write correctly with the right grammar. Sometimes I really get so annoyed when my compositions turned to be so aweful because of inconsistency.. I really want to write well that's why i really do my best to always remeber the rules in grammar.. when it regards with your writing, you're already good.. i believe you can be a great writer if you really want it..Practice makes it perfect remember..

yeah..sometimes grammar gets into me too.. there're times I hate the word grammar coz i feel like its restricting me of my creativity, like you have to write it this way, express it that way, the dont's, the right terms.. come on, nobodys perfect.. and no one could think alike.. but it just so ironic somehow coz learning grammar lets you know where to start at writing.. or let's just put it this way, we should like grammar but just don't get too addicted..

Don't give up your dream!! I believe in you!!! I also love creative writing and I, like you, have always had troubles putting my thoughts on paper. But it's ok. There are some people who don't even have creative thoughts!! Seriously. You just got to keep trying and be willing to take the time and have the patience to make it happen. Sometimes art just takes a while. I mostly write poems and sometimes I take hours on them and they aren't even that long!! I know people who can pop out a poem in less than a minute. I don't care that I'm not one of those people because I am confident in my work. I am definitely a frustrated writer sometimes. And I know that every true artist has felt this way at least once in their lifetime. Just don't give up!!
What kind of writing do you do anyway? Poems, short stories, novels, free writing, ?????
Anyways, good luck to ya!!! Have a sprinkley cupcake sort of day!!!

i like the "sprinkley cupcake" sort of day!! so nice to read that.. i tried writing short stories when I was small, but I was too embarrassed coz my older brothers would read it and laugh..and then I've somehow forgot all about it as I grow up.. I like to write reviews or blogs about movies, celebs, pets, fashion and books.. anything that falls on my interests.. but i only get creative when i'm in the mood of writing.. but one thing I think I'm really good at when it comes to writing is writing letters.. most especially friendly letters.. I noticed that most of my friends who've received my letters complimented me of my writing.. and I don't think that talent would take me anywhere.. lol. All I'm sure of is that I like free writing-talk about anything under the sun.. and my most favorite reading material is Readers' Digest.

tee hee. I thought u might like that. Well I think that writing letters is a great talent to have. I'm sure that it could come in handy somewhere. I think that creativity comes to all people only when they are in "the mood". Maybe some people are just in the mood more often, but hey that's ok. Well I'm sure that you will find the perfect job, even if it isn't writing. Hey I love writing and I am going into college to be an accountant. lol. Talk to ya laterz.

information on freelance writing? well i cant really say that i know freelance writing that much. all i know is that you write on a bunch of topics ranging from technology, health, illness, computers, internet, food, real estate, to every thing under the sun:) and you will be paid depending on the length of the article
