I am very proud of the USA where I live. I show my patriotism daily by flying the US flag on my house each day weather permitting. I sing the National Anthem at live sporting events as the music is played. There are times that I actually start to cry lightly during the playing of our National Anthem as well. I even sing along on the te;livised events when it is played. I support the troops we have stationed throughout the world in warring areas and other areas. Do you show your patriotism for your Country as well? How do you show this?

Hi there,
Its not right to number a country. Every one thinks that his /her country is the best and that is how it should be. Blaming other countries in public is like showing disrespect to your own country.
Dont do that.
Cheers,
Tutul

I also am very proud on the country where I live. I don't have a flag to fly but during certain holiday's there is a realtor in our area out here that goes to each house and put a flag on a stick in each yard. I do put my hand over my heart and stand when the National Anthem is being played or sang.

Why don't you buy a flag to fly? They run about $20 and take
5 minutes to install the bracket to fly it from? Thanks also.

I really proud to be an Indian.
when i see my country's growth in last five years, i really feel proud.
when i saw an article in newspaper of US President that "Be aware guys, Indian are coming", at that time i really felt very PROUD.
though i dont believe in numbers, but if we go with Mr. Bush, i can say that India is # 1.
For Patriotism, i support Indian Army, i help poor children, because if they will rise my country will automatically rise and thats the real help to my country.
there are so many things which i do directly and indirectly which i cant mention here.
I respect other countries as well.
We should proud to be on this Beautiful EARTH!!!!

I just watched a show about a woman from the US that was in Calcutta for a few years. She is a photographer and she lived in the redlight District. She gave cameras to the children of the women that worked the brothels teaching them about photography. Some of the kids photos were sold through Sothebys Auctuion house and the money is going to assist in the lives of those children etc in that area. very interesting show. Thanks for your response as well.

I stiil get teary eyed at the races etc when the national Anthem is played. The words are so strong and true is what does it to me. That plus thinking of the troops all over the world risking their lives for freedom of themselves as well as freeddom for others.

Could you explain the reasoning some here for me as well as others that read this? Even though most of India seems poverty stricken I have seen things on TV that make it a very interesting country. Please share you reasons here.

*Awkward shrug*
Let me illustrate the difference between love and pride.
I love my country. Every scrap of land, ever tree. This is my home. My only true home in a way a house could never accomplish, it's probably one of the reasons why I wish to travel all over it. Not on a plane, or a car...but by foot or on a scooter, camping out along the road along the way for as far as I can go.
To truly, really appreciate it.
I can never stop loving this place.
My ancesters -- the Sioux and Apache, lived here...as well as some of the migrants who came here.
Its history, much of it is amazing and beautiful...and the parts of it that aren't, are slowly overcome.
I don't get teary eyed over the National Anthem, I don't own a flag.
I support the troops, but not necessarily the wars they participate in.
And presently, I'm not proud or supportive of our present government, or confident that our next one will be much better.
I love this country.
However, it's hard to be proud. Pride is not an emotion that comes easily to me, so..

I also have some Native Indian blood in me. 1/16th Cherokee actually and sometimes when I go to Pow Wows and talk with many other NAI's listening to their stories of their ancestors and their plight with "WhiteAmerica" many years ago makes me so sad for my country. But I love it still. Thanks for sharing.

My great grandfather on my Mom's side is where I get mine from, Grandpa's Irish, and my Dad's entire family's German, so that's the rest of my gene pool that I'm aware of, heh ^_^'
It's not completely the race thing, but I don't think there's alot that can erase the love of a land you've grown up in and that holds meaning to you.
A country is its people. Which is mostly why it's hard for me to be proud. I'm not proud of all, or even most (yet at least) of this country's people.
But the idea that it was founded on, the idea why we're all here today...there's no not loving it.

I'm also very proud of my country and i also show my patriotism in much the same ways as you do. The Olympics that recently ended is always a reminder to me of how much I really do love my country because I can't help but tear up when I see one or more of our hard-working and dedicated athletes win the Gold and hear our National Anthem played while they stand on the platform. However, saying I'm proud of my country and love my country doesn't always mean I support our current leadership at any given time or that I'm proud of everything our government has done or is doing. I don't for one second believe that if someone says we can do better or even if they're openly critical of certain things that that means that person doesn't love America as much as anyone else does and it certainly doesn't make them "anti-American". I also think we all have our own ways of showing and expressing our patriotism so much too much has been made about people wearing or not wearing a flag lapel pin or placing their hand on their heart during the playing of the Anthem, which is a custom for some people in some parts of the country but is something very few people do in my area. We stand, of course, and those wearing hats remove them but the only ones you see with their hands over their hearts are a few elderly men who likely served in World War II. I support each and every one of our troops stationed anywhere in this world, especially my own two nephews currently in Afghanistan but that doesn't mean I have to support the current commander-In-Chief.
I'm sorry, Grandpa Bob, I didn't mean to take this in a direction you may not have intended but I just wanted to say I have no doubt the vast majority of us living in this beautiful and wonderful country love America and are very proud to be Americans regardless of our views on various issues facing American and even if we have some areas of disagreement with our current leadership and feel there are ways in which we could improve. When you love someone or something you only want themt o be the very best they can be, right?

I've always loved the Olympics since childhood. I get teary eyed as they put out the flame at the closing ceremony each time as well. I seldom have worn a lapel. I know where my heart is as far as patirotism goes and I love my country. I fly the flag as respect and honor for which the flag stands.

I'm very proud of my country also, I live in the USA. I come from a family of veterans, I have grandfathers and cousins and uncles that were all in the military at one time. My grandpa always made sure he flew the flag, especially at 4th of July. The past couple weeks, I watched the Olympics, and everytime one of our American athletes would win a gold medal or any medal, I was proud, especially when they played our National Anthem, it would bring tears to my eyes also. I also support our troops, they need our support. Have a good day..

Hi Grandpa Bob! I too am a truly patriotic American. I
wear an American Flag charm with the words "God Bless
America" inscribed on the back of the Flag. I've worn
it since right after 9/11. Being a New Yorker I have
had to show my patriatism outwardly! I have a flag in
my window of my apartment, I wear shirts with the flag
on it every chance I get, always on the holidays. I
also cry when I hear the National Anthem played even at
baseball games and I stand even when I'm alone in the
house. I support the troops even though I don't believe
that they should be there because I don't support this
President, but I do support our Country and pray that
things will be right again soon. God Bless American and
God Bless You Grandpa Bob!

I don't think people are more proud of their country than the U.S.A. After 911 we all came together and we haven't lost touch with the fact that we will all be there for each other in any desperate moment. And every time I go to a baseball game, its The National Anthem, Star Spangled Banner, and Deep in the hear of Texas all the way!!

Hi GRANDPA BOB! I love my country and I am proud to say that I am a Filipino. We have lots of problems at the moment but I still have faith in some honest government officials who are working so hard to bring back the glory of our country. My country is so beautiful and I guess, all will say that that there is nothing like home in each of their own country. When I spent my education in a foreign land, I missed my family and my country. I thought at that time that it will be better for me and my family to just get out of our country and live elsewhere but I was wrong. When I came back, I cried when I heard our national anthem played and since then, I never had the illusion of living in another country to have a better life. Sure, I would love to see other countries but I would not want to live in another one aside from my own. I do pray that soon our country will able to rise again for the sake of all my countrymen.
Take care always..God Bless!

I am also from the United States. I am proud of my country. I am proud of the people of the United States. Citizens have been coming to the aid of their neighbors for centuries. The same holds true today. When 9-11 occurred, people came from all over the country as well as the world to help. When we have floods or hurricanes its the people who make me proud. I am not so proud of our government and its decisions. Overall The People make the United States what it is today. The flag represents the hard work of the citizens not government! I am proud to be an american!

I am pleased that you still show your patriotism for you country and proud of it, but all to ofeten these days people are happy with their country and they critise it so much its sad, the only time they do the flag flying is at sporting events like football and ofcouse the Olympics as for the Nationa Anthem they don't even know the lyrics to it, sad
