Well last week my brother and his wife had a baby, the baby weighed 8 lbs. and 5 ozs. and was 20 and a quarter inches long. All this time we knew it was a girl, the ultrasounds they had said it was a girl. Whenever my brother came walking down the hallway pushing the baby in a little cart, he was smiling big, then he told us, we've got a big surprise. We didn't know what to think, I thought maybe there were twins, because the mother is a twin, he said the baby is a boy. OMG..we couldn't believe it, a boy, we had just given her a baby shower a few weeks before and everybody gave her stuff for a girl. Now we've got to do it all over again, this time boy stuff. She said she had already washed everything she had, and taken all the tags off, so I don't know what they are going to do now. So we did get a big surprise, but thankfully the baby is a big healthy boy. So has anyone ever had this happen to them, and what would you do in this case, if everything had already been washed and tags taken off of it all? We have a boy that is wearing pink right now..lol. Thanks...and Happy Mylotting

Yes, looks like we will be doing some shopping..lol. I think some of the clothes probably came in multi colors that will work. Her sisters are giving her a babyshower, they said all they will have to do is contact who they invited and tell them its a boy, so that will help too. Thanks...

I know a couple of friends that were told in their ultrasounds they heard a girl and then they both had boys. I didn't know the gender of my first baby until he was born. I found out the gender of my second son and my daughter. I especially enjoyed buying all the pretty little dresses. Well I kept the tags until she was born. I know a lady that decorated the baby's room pink and bought all pink dresses. She was so upset when her baby turned out to be a boy. For the first two weeks she named him Roberta! Two weeks later she admitted he was called Robert and he was a boy really. Your nephew will be one year old now.

Yes, it was a shock, especially for my brother and sister in law. Everything worked out tho, she was able to take the clothes to a consignment shop and trade for boy's clothes. I have another friend that went through that, she thought she was having a girl, she already had two boys, and they painted the room pink and everything, and surprise...haha. Yes, he's a year old now, we had his first b-day party and it was hard to believe he was the same baby, he's grown so fast, too fast for me...Thanks

That happened to a girl I was friends with a few years ago. She thought she was having a boy and found out it was a girl. She only had 1 ultrasound and what they thought made it a boy was the umbilical cord. LOL

Oh thats funny, it wasn't funny when it happened, but after awhile we kept laughing. Yeah, when they showed me the ultrasound picture and they showed me the girl parts, I kept thinking it wasn't right, there was something else on the picture that looked like boy parts, but they said no, thats not it...well look what happened..lol. thanks..

I've had something sort of like this happen to a friend of mine, but no quite.
She was not even a week away from giving birth, she had baby shower already and everything. So she goes to the doctor for a checkup of some sort and he tells her, Your having twins. This is big news to find out a week before you give birth.
Just a tip, Never take the tags off of the gifts until that baby is born. These gender mistakes are made quite often, so it's best to wait. Your not going to be using the gifts (usually clothes) until the child is born anyways.

When I was pregnant with our first child i heard lots of stories of that happening to people. so what i did was kept the tags on all the stuff I got at my shower unless it was a neutral color like yellow or green. I washed up the neutral stuff and one outfit that was pink and one that was blue. That way if it came out the opposite of what clothes i had I was covered. The only thing she could do would be to put them in the newspaper as never worn and explain so she could sell them and get some money to buy boys clothes. Or give them away. At least she had a healthy baby.

I never thought of that, there probably are some that are a neutral color. I haven't talked to them in a few days, so I don't know what they did. I think her sisters were going to give her a baby shower, they said they will just have to contact who they invited and tell them its a boy. Yes, at least he is healthy, thats all that matters.

Oh! It is a big surprise to all of you. Congratulation for your brother and wife. It is very good to hear that the boy weighs 8lbs and 5 ozs, its good healthy baby. How cute is he might be? I just imagine him as his chubby cheeks and hands and feet and eyes. Good luck. Never mind let him wear the stuff of girl first and after that he might wear the stuff of boy. OR you all can keep it for some one in the family child. take care and have a nice day.

This hasn't happened to me or anybody in my family but it did happen to a lady that goes to church with me. They had already had showers given to them and the ultrasounds also, everything saying they were having a girl but just like for your brother and his wife they had a boy!! Thankfully they had not taken the tags off everything so I think they were able to swap what they had for girls clothes LOL!!

Yeah its good that they didn't take all the tags off. We told my sister in law that she could probably take the clothes to a resale shop and maybe they would give her credit so she could get other stuff. Thanks...

when i was having babies we never done that. i really think people should stop trusting such technology we always bought like greens, whites, etc. i never knew anyone of this happening tosince people no longer like the fun of not knowing why dont they wait till after the baby i wonder? i did have a friend that had her tubes tied, then 14 yrs later had a babyseems they started realising sometimes they grow back together. now they cut them also i think.

Yeah, they didn't do things like that a long time ago, I'm not sure if they did when I was a baby I'm in my late 30's. It was weird when it happened, but we were just happy the baby was healthy..Thanks

Whoa..that is a big surprise! I've heard of that happening a few times before. It's strange. Maybe they could find some clothes for the baby on ebay so that they don't have to pay full price for a whole new wardrobe. I buy a lot of my kids clothes on there @ low prices. I never get anything that isn't nice looking. when he was a baby i found a lot of really good deals for his baby clothes too. they grow so fast anyways they dont' wear them long lol.
