Why are Vampires so Sexy?

My daughter is a fan of all those vampire books that are basically romance novels. She read one the other night that was for 'young adult' readers and insisted that I read it too. Even there the first kiss was described so vividly that I felt like swooning myself. And the second kiss where her tongue slid over his fangs was a total turn on!
What is it about a vampire that is so so sexy?? Obviously women like a strong, powerful, dangerous man who can bring them to their knees, but what is with the fangs and the blood sucking?? I don't get it.

Ugh, I hate vampires. I know they don't exist; so I should say I hate vampire books. And modern American young adult novelists such as Stine and Pike are fond of vampires. I really don't know what they SEE in vampires!! I literally puked when I read my first vampire story and decided I won't read such stuff again.
There is nothing "sexy" about a vampire. And I hate the very idea of drinking blood to remain in existence. Give me a nice well-mannered ghost anytime!
Cheers and happy mylotting

I don't get it either. I'm not one to enjoy vampire books and movies but found myself watching Coppola's Dracula. That was when I got (ahem) "bitten" by the love bug for Gary Oldman. I was probably thirteen and most of my friends were swooning over Keanu Reeves and I was all for Oldman. I wanted to be Mina to his Prince Dracula.
In real life, I would probably run as fast as I could away from someone with fangs and blood dripping all over.

Hehehehe, yeah, I'm with you Mina, I mean SaintAnne, if I came across some cloaked figure in a dark alley with blood dripping off his fangs I think the only thing that would be 'turned on' in me would be the urge to RUN!! But I can understand your thing for Gary Oldman! Maybe I wouldn't run if it was that vampire lurking in the alley!

I will pretend to be hypnotized even if I wasn't if I see Oldman lurking around in an alley. He can catch me anytime.

Yeah, some of the stuff in her Vampire Chronicles is so intensly sexy it makes me wish I was a Catholic! Hehehehe. I read an interview with her where she was talking about how she had to sequester herself away in the basement while writing it. I think her books certainly captured that essence!

Because biting is rough, and rough = sexy!!!
Finding the pleasure in pain can be tricky, but is amazing in mild doses...
P.S. I'm not a freak, haha...I'm not into anything too wierd...

I think it might be their pale complexion. And the fact that they turn to dust at sunrise. The lack of commitment would be a real plus.
Aside from that I can't really say.

They don't turn to dust at sunrise, that is when they go to sleep! And that is most likely when I will be going to sleep today too, since it is now 4AM where I am and I still have warhammer stuff to do and comments to make to your responses... boy you have been busy!I really appreciate your appreciation though! You're wonderful!

That sounds like a wonderful day! Very relaxing.
Yeah, if you had read through all the responses as well you would have been there for weeks I think. I didn't realize I had started so many discussions. I think some of the stories are wasted here on MyLot though. Oh well, at least I had fun!

Nah, I wasn't really busy yesterday. I got up kind of early, checked my emails. Made some breakfast. Read some books. Played with my kid, and opened every discussion you ever made, and just read them, commented on most not all. Then went and looked at another house, finished up on your comments, read some more in my book then went to bed. If I was busy, I would have got something productive done.
Though reading your discussions was entertaining. Maybe I should have read through all the responses to, but we type a lot, and I noticed it isn't just discussions with me, I would have been at it for days.
