Shawshank Redemption - how can people say this movie is Good???

okk let me start by talking about the performances... the performances of every one in this movie is exceptional and no words to describe. Morgan freemans voice is so deep and his voice over long lasting effect.... mind blowing...
Story : simple story u will ever find ...a guy escaping from a prison...but screenplay is simply superb.. mind blowing...keeps u guessing how will the movie end.
Dialogue: Its excellent.... just a sample here "the funny thing is outside i was a honest man ... i had to come to prison to be a crook".... superb
Direction: excellent .... the movies flows like a river... never breaks.... bravo... he clearly made a point....about what exactly prison does to u.
Cinematography was nice... as its meant to be in 60's. make up nice...some scenes i liked
*morgan freeman interviews for the payroll
*the episode when brooks walks out.... point was so clearly made
*the climax when freeman comes out of prision
what the helll.... every scene in this movie is my fav.
Final Word: This movie is excellent... i watched this movie the 2nd time ... understood even more about why .. he stes up the library... every dilogueandy says has a meaning.... simply superb.
See u watch Nolan movies again to understand the story... u watch this movie again to understand the real emotion why he does the things. To people who say the movie s good ... its not good... its "Excellent"... "Brilliant" .. no words to describe.

no ur wrong dude just watch it again everytime u watch it u know something new a new angle in that film i consider it as one of the magnamopus of hollywood movies.

One of my favorite movies. Shawshank Redemption is about a young and profitable banker (Andy) who is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. His life has been changed in an instance. At Shawshank he is a little aloof at first, but as time goes by he managed to have a good friend (Red) and also eventually gains the respect of his fellow inmates. Andy's financial knowledge has been beneficial to prison staff, guards (even from other prisons) and also to the warden (Norton) who eventually used Andy as a money launderer for the warden's own personal gain. This movie has similarity with Prison Break, Andy is also a genius, but I find this movie much realistic.

I must admit, I was really taken aback when I first read your title; I thought you were going to criticize this movie and I was wondering how that could be! I remember hearing a lot about it during the Oscars the year it came out but I didn't have any idea what it was about, the title didn't mean a thing to me so I didn't think I'd care for it. It wasn't until several years later I saw it on DVD and I loved it. I've watched it several times since then and there's always something new I'd somehow missed or overlooked before. You're right, there really aren't any words to fully describe how incredibly good this movie is. It's not your typical prison movie, for anyone who thinks it wouldn't be for them. If you haven't seen it, you've missed oneof the best films of all time.

I love the movie the 'shawshank redemption' its one of my most highly rated movies i think that the story about one mans struggle to beat the odds in a brutal prison is so inspiring. The story line and the acting is excellent morgan freeman and tim robbins make the part thier own this has to be one of the top movies made of all time.
