Why? Because they don't spend their money! That's what I have heard!
My brother is one of them. They are very wealthy but stick by a monthly budget that is very stringent. The pay off is that they have extra money for traveling and entertaining which are two things they love to do. One of the ways they save money is my brother colors my sister in laws hair! Yup! They do it at home! I have done my hair with over the counter dyes too but was really surprised when I found out that my very own brother....who I would have never guessed, acutally does the coloring! Do you color your own hair or have someone who helps you with the process? Does it help stretch your budget?

I usually had my hair colored professionally in the past, but I cannot afford it now. So I am trying to do it again at home. My problem is I have so much hair, but it is so much cheaper to do it myself than to have it done at a salon. I think it is great that your brother is nice enough to color his wife's hair. More power to him!
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Hello Jill.
Hm, well, if there's already money, more can be earned through the interest. And on and on and on. I do think people with more money have figured out how to budget what goes out in relation to what is coming in.
I had to do budget counseling with clients in a job I had several years ago. So, I had to get information from a "real" budget counselor and would even refer some people with big financial problems to him, if need be. Anyhoo, I learned a few basics from that financial counselor that I applied and they do seem to have worked pretty well.
That is so cool about your brother coloring his wife's hair. My sister's husband has been coloring her hair for years. No, I stopped putting color on my hair about 10 or 12 years ago. I just hated having to go to the hair salon all the time, it wasn't really the money.
I am completely silver gray. And I must say, it is such a relief not to worry about the roots showing or that I can't fit in an appointment to the salon, or worse yet, that they can't fit me in at a time that works for me.
I get my hair cut about every 8 weeks or so and spend $20 to $30 on that. So, that's it for expenditures on my hair. Well, other than shampoo, mousse, and hair spray.
Take care.

I have always coloured my own hair, since the age of 19 so that is like 16 years now. It is cheaper, a lot cheaper than the hairdressers although I know that it would probably look better if I went to the hairdressers!

Yeah? Mind you thinking on you just reminded me of a friend that had hers done a few months ago and hers came out awful, she was supposed to have blonde streaks in she looked grey when it was done. I swear it made her look ten years older and the cap split so she had a big chunk at the front! I am light blonde at the minute and tomorrow I am going to dye it,,,,,,,, RED!!! I am mad. I must be. I really really hope it turns out OK!!!

I've found that people with money are often better about being frugal than those who have little.
My sister is a VP at a large company and has always made excellent money. But she uses coupons, makes presnets, doesn't eat out that often.
When she and her hubby first married, they really lived frugally. They lived off his income and banked her entire check - for about 4 years. Then when they bought their first home, they were able to put about half down, making the payments very manageable.
For the next few years, they banked about 2/3 of her salary until they felt that they were financially ready to have a child.
Then they banked 1/2 of her salary for a few years until their next child was born.
At that point, she was earning more money than her hubby, so they switched and started living off her salary and banking 1/3 of his.
When their girls reached college age, they had saved enough money to pay for 4 years of college for each one. (They didn't need most of the money, since they got scholarships.)
Unlike many homes, they had only 2 TVs and neither was a big screen. They didn't have a huge and expensive sound system. They kept their vehicles for 6-8 years, instead of trading them in every 3-4.
I think we could learn a lot from people who have money...if we'd like to learn. (Rather than disrespecting them...as is being done right now with the political slurs.)

About hair coloring...I do color at home - when I do it.
And my sister probably colored her hair at home about 2/3 of the time and 1/3 of the time had it professionally done.

Your sister-in-law is lucky to have such a handman around the house. I could visualize my husband trying to do this to my hair. Our floors would be ruined along with the chair I was sitting in and my clothes. Would be a disaster..lol
I'm lucky not to have to worry about a budget. The only time I spend money is when I visit the casino and play Keno. I'm not a shopper and don't have much interest in going to movies. We do go to lots of sporting events which can be costly but are always fun.
When it comes to coloring my hair, I get it done at a beauty shop. I don't have to color my hair if I choose not to but like blonde streaks running through my brown hair primarily to give my hair body. My hair grows slow so I don't have to get it colored very often. I can get by for 4-5 months without any color. I am gray free! How I managed to avoid no gray is a miracle. My mother was white at 40.

I just let my hair go natural. I do not dye it or have anyone dye it so I have to find ways to save money and be stringy some other way. What I do is to decide that I will not buy anything until I have accomplished a certain goal. Right now it is to get a whole set of DVds of one of my favorite shows. I also buy binders at the thrift store, buy clothes for every day at second hand and juist buy my Sunday clothes at a specialty shop because i am a plus size and they have a bigger selection. And I used to not be able to get good leather sandals until the Baby Boomers started to turn sixty. Now I can get them at Walmart.
But I think the rich are that way is becuase they do not do impulse shopping. If we stop that, we would hold uto our money.

Hi yes that saying is tru the rich getting richer.
but it is not that they dont spend their money it is the fact that rich people are sTINGY with their money lol and yes sticking to budgets acting like they have no money
there was a guy at college he got a big house lives in the wealthy part of the city and his dad has good cars like bentley but yet he asks people for lunch money!!!
the only time maybe he is not stingy when it came to his girl friend. but that was probabll because she was way too pretty for him lol

I want to be richer ! i am not now! But i know i am on the way to reach !
Rich get richer is not really because of saving the money, its because of they know What to Spend ! Where to Spend and How to Spend !. Spending is more important that saving. Making appropriate spending makes rich to invest, their surplus money to work for them. So investment makes the rich as richer and the poor doesnt.
In another angel, I find your brothers love on your sister in law, because i too dress up my wife not for saving money to show my love and care.
I wont color my hairs, because i like my hair color as it is a bit more dark than any dark.
I just shared my views to you but unfortunately it has flown controvesy to the subject!!! Correct me if state wrong !!!

I don't think it matters whether you are rich or not, as long as you know what to do with your money and where to invest it, you can get richer.
For example, I invest $5 a week into a website, I get $7 a week back out of it, so I know how to make a profit out of things.
Also, I have a savings account, which gets a fair bit of interest every year, so I get richer without me even having to do anything myself.
I agree it might be easier for rich people to get more money, but if you put in enough time and effort, poor people can make a lot of money from what they've got as well!

There are most deffinately ways to save money that wont affect your life all that much. Stop buying name brands! Ive found in my experience, the expensive batteries are just as good as the no name. Same with TONS of other things out there. YOu wont notice the difference between a name brand and a no name brand. THat will save you alot of money. I personally wouldnt trust blonde box dye, becuase I have had bad experiences. But if your going to die your hair brown, Id suggest box dye. It looks just as good as if you came out of the salon, saving you atleast 50 bucks!

No they don't spend thier money. My grandfather is one of them. He's 78 and a retired railroad enginer. I saw his bank statements about 10 years ago and I'm sure he's almost doubled that by now. Everything he owns is paid for. He has no cable, internet, or cell phone. The best tip I ever got out of him was to open a seperate bank account after you pay off your frist auto loan. Keep paying the note into the account. By the time you need a new vehicle, you can pay mostly cash. He doesn't share much. lol
Yes, I color my own hair. Never had it done in a salon.

The rich gets richer not because they don't spend their money. I've seen rich people spending a lot but never got any poorer because they invest a portion of their wealth into assets that generates more income for them like business, investing in stocks and shares, forex etc. Not spending money merely increases savings but not necessarily makes a person richer, unless he takes a huge paycheck back home every month. Cheers

I agree with you. The rich get richer because they know how to save too. This is probably the reason why I am not rich. I work hard, so when payday comes, I treat myself to the things I enjoy doing - and these are food, books and movies. But I do manicure myself as I have a phobia since I developed an ingrown toe nail the last time I had a pedicure. Both of my big toe nails were removed (ouch) . From then on I manicured and pedicured myself. This had saved me a lot of money. Cheers!
