Does anyone here have a fear of something or a phobia? I personally am a germophobic. I hate germs and can't live without a rubbing alcohol and I am really a stickler for neatness and cleanliness.

My biggest phobia is that of fire, when it is in open spaces. Examples of this are lighting a match, and candles. I am not afraid of fire when it is in a closed space like a fireplace. This started when I was a kid. My house almost burned down when a candle fell over.

It must have been really traumatic for you (your house almost burning down) because until now you still remember it and even developed a phobia. My fear of germs started quite recently. I dont know why. Maybe because i dont want to get sick or something. I still want to do alot of things with my life and if you're sick how can you do that. It has gotten to do the point that I dont hold doorknobs or I have to wipe it first before I hold it.

I have battled one illness and disability after another my entire life, and each time it has been quite debilitating. You really do have a valid point there. I like carrying instant sanitizer gel with me wherever I go. You might consider getting a bottle of Purex or something like that. Sometimes you can get them cheap at places like Target or Walmart.

I have two. I am terribly afraid of drowning. I can't swim. I tried to take swimming lessons a few summers ago. I couldn't do it. I was taking them with my children. They passed with flying colors. I cried. lol... My other phobia is of storms. They make me cry, too. Lightening, thunder, tornadoes... all make me hyperventilate...

I am also afraid of swimming because just like you, I dont know how to swim. It's a good thing im not fond of going to beaches and swimming. I dont like storms either. Here in my country (philippines), we have alot of them. Sometimes at night I would just pray that the storm passes without me and anyone in my family getting hurt.

As I can say, my biggest phobia use to be heights, until I started to ride roller coasters. I decided to get over my fear and had an exciting thrill of heights and fast moving rides.
I am not really scared of anything that I can think of but Horror movies do send a cold chill down my spine.
I can't really consider myself a germophobic but I hate unsanitary areas and if I find any in my house(rarely), I will fix and clean the problem.

I also dont like horror movies so i dont watch them very often. It's commendable that you've already overcome your fear of heights by facing it. I guess that's the solution to most phobias. Just face it and be done with it. I appreciate the response. Hope you have a nice day ahead of you.

I don't know the name of my phobia, but am afraid of buffaloes,ox and cows. Once I saw a ox chasing some poor chap and from on I always feared them. I never had any bad experiences with them but I always walk away from their direction. I just can't over come this phobia.
