how fast can you type?...

Very fast! So fast infact that the keyboard starts to smoke whenever I start typing! I'm just messing! No, I really do type fast, I probably have a speed of around 50 to 60 words per minute. I just don't know what I would do without my typing ability. It has certainly made life that much easier for me when it comes to writing. I think that you also have a far easier job when you are writing posts in online forums like this one. 35 wmp is not bad! If you constantly practise then your speed will increase over time. I type quite fast. I don't know my wpm. I think it's around 80wpm. Can anyone tell me how to check it ? Are there any programs for this?

i can do 30 wpm..but with my language i can do 40

I would say that I'm definitely between 40 and 60 words per minute!! So, I guess we are all touchtypists then? It helps if you can touchtype, you definitely begin to smoke the keyboard. You definitely have an advantage when you have to type letters and things like that. I went to a business admin college when I was 16 and that kind of gave me these skills for life, fantastic! I'm looking to utilize these skills somehow by looking for free online publishers that publish any writing that you do. I've heard that this is a good option if you want to make a decent income online. Anyway, back to typing! There are loads of free typing tutorials online. Keep typing, Andrew

My average is about 45 wpm. Different keys change your words per minute. Copying papers or phrases will also decrease WPM.

I don't know, but when i was in 9th grade i took a typing class and i think the highest WPM i ever got was somewhere around 50. I think i type really fast and i rarely get typos while doing so. I think I've actually learned to type faster by being on the computer so much. I would actually like to know how fast i type, just for the sake of knowing. SO if anyone knows a site online where you can find out (one preferably where i don't have to download anything ) that would be great.

Personally, I haven't been able to determine my typing speed for quite sometime now. I remember when I was still a first year student in college, I took up 2 units of Typing course. We were given techniques and training to develop mastery of typewriter keyboard by hands, along with several typing jobs which we have to finish within the allotted time of 1 full hour. Normally, most of us found it difficult to comply with our professor's requirements during the first few months. Eventually, some of us were able to achieve mastery of the keyboard and attain a typing speed which was not exactly that of a lightning speed but was fair enough. And primarily due to the several years of absence of typing practice on my part, my typing speed naturally slowed down. At present, the only practice I derive from is here in mylot community so I'm definitely thankful for this wonderful site; aside from the extra earnings I get from here. By now, I think I have a slow rate of 15 to 20 words a minute. Regards.

I think im somewhere around 50 or 60 something wpm. I took a test a few years ago and thats what it was. im probably faster now lol. I am pretty good at typing and pretty quick so i think if i was to take a test id probably be faster then that by now with minimum errors. I had to type fast at the one job i had because i had to input stuff quickly so i can get to the next person.

I think last time I tested at like 40 something.I don't remember.But I do remember being nervous and making alot of mistakes because someone was watching me lol.But i think I might be better now..I might take a test then ill let you know..lol

I usually type anywhere from 70 to 75 wpm. I think IM helped me to type faster and also to memorize the keyboard better. Also there is a program called Typing Tutor that is really great to help improve your typing speed and your accuracy, too. The more you type the better you'll get.
