Does Karma work in reverse??

I know for a fact that Karma brings you back the ill you put out (from experience I do admit) but does it bring you the good too or does that go unrewarded?? I am a very good person and I do right by everyone I meet and/or know but all I ever seem to have is bad luck hit me. I try my hardest to see the good and to remember that everything happens for a reason but for the last 13 years it has been mostly all bad. Seems like once a week something 'unusual' or 'very rare' or 'extremely unlucky' happens to me and I am pretty much fed up since I feel by this time in my life I deserve a break and I KNOW that I am not getting the good that I have put out into this world!

Your question reflects a very basic and common misunderstanding of what of what Karma is. The word is from the Sanskrit and means action. Karma does not mean that you get what you give or any other such nonsense. It is in it's simplest form the law of cause and effect. There is no good or bad involved. It is just the idea that one action naturally causes some result. If you are looking for some mystical help look somewhere else. you will not find it in Karma.

I wasnt looking for mystical help just an understanding of how it worked and I guess I had it all wrong. If cause and effect are its basic principals then wouldnt that lead me to believe that my being a good IE: helpful nice person; have the effect of of me being treated the same by others? I smile, you smile sorta deal??

The word 'karma' is an Indian word from the language of Sanskrit and I dont know how sanskrit words have been merged in English with totally wrong understanding and misconceptions are created about them. 'Karma' or 'Karm' means your actions and certainly it is in no way related to luck. I think 'Bhaagya' is more related word to luck. Ask a Sanskrit expert, I am not.

Karma is, as its been mentioned, about action/cause and effect etc and not about "luck" (I personally dont believe in luck at all)..BUT every action has a reaction and is a chain of events/actions etc that do come back to you full circle IMO....Just like when you throw a stone into a puddle or pond...the ripples go OUTWARD BUT if you watch once they hit the outter edge the ripples come back to where the stone originally hit..Karma is the same idea....AND remember that "what you put out" ISNT just in actions, its thoughts as well...ANY negativity you put out counts.....
Another ting to remember is also that we live our lives in order to learn....there are NO bad happenings if you look at it the right way..Everything is a lesson to be learned...maybe you arent learning a specific lesson adn thats why certain things tend to happen more frequently...Make sense?

I can guarantee that my thoughts are always postive when I am helping people but since I suffer with a BiPolar/BPD. I can always tell you that my thoughts are sad and negative about myself. So do you think that this is what I get back? I gave up years ago and figured that my friends and family were right, I AM cursed so its just like another day in the mills for me when things go wrong most times :)~. But there are times when sooooo much hits me and its allllllll bad that I cant handle it anymore and shut down. I had 3 seperate issues with health last year and all were serious enough to keep me down for over a month. I have had to have 3 surgeries (all different parts of body) in less than one year...stuff like that is what I am talking about :). I try to see the good in it all but sometimes it is just not there! I have no idea of what more lessons I could learn to be truthful. Maybe I need some sort of Karma mentor to show me what I am missing??

I got everything that you said :) I can see good in most of it, even if it does come later, but some is just plain mean and unless I menat to be homeless for some reason, NOT leading to good. I too have seen the good in being both sexually and physically abused and I can see that all my mental abuse from parents and husbands made me who I am. I know that I am what most consider TOO good of a person and a great mother due to giving others what I never had. But again, some things in my life just dont make sense!
What is the good in having multiple lung nodules, going through surgery and STILL not having an answer as to what they are? Just to make me worry??? What is the good in having my car break down one month after leaving my husband so I cant go anywhere or get a job? To make me insane with boredom and frustrated every day being cooped up in a house with a 3 yo???? What is the good in my rommie (and ONLY source of income since hubby isnt paying child support) being laid off just before my daughters brithday and mortgage is due with NO work in this small town?? Ok maybe that one forced me to apply to over 40 work from home jobs but I didnt get any yet so they wont help in time. SEE what I am saying?
I look forward to your coming home and get me some groceries while you are out ok lol? I prefer shrimp and tilipia. :):)

Like two others here, I would also like to stress that Karma means 'action', and generally the law of Karma means 'the law of cause and effect'. And the way it works is really wierd. You might not be reaping the effects of karma in this life alone. Your total karma is an unimaginable long list and the ones that need to be spent in this lifetime(I believe you decide that yourself before you are born here) are the ones that we are going through in this lifetime. Although I don't think it is irreversible, there are things that make you less depressed, like doing meditation and selfless service etc... It also depends on the way you look at life itself and what lessons you are learning from all your bad days. It is usually believed that good people usually are very unlucky material wise because they chose their karma that way to evolve faster. Maybe you are like that!! And you have reserved to experience your good karma later when you are more evolved!! Anyway, don't lose heart. Whatever good actions you perform will surely be rewarded appropriately.

Now everyone who loves you calling you cursed is definitely not something that you can be happy about. I didn't mean to say that if you are bad, you are happy and if you are good, you are sad. No, that's not what I meant. I believe you chose your karma for this life a bit too hard for yourself because you believed you were strong enough for it. Also, life is not completely ups or completely downs for anyone. It is a mixture of both. Since you seem to have had a lot of downs, naturally I would expect it to go up now. I guess you know about the saying "The darker the night, the brighter the day". I will tell you the story of a king who wanted a inspiring thought that was eternal. His wise teacher wrote a saying for him in a piece of paper and sealed it in a pendant and gave it to the king with a condition "Open this when you feel you are in the edge of your life". And so it came to pass that after a few years, the kingdom was invaded by another and the king lost everything and had to flee to the forest to save his life. At that moment, he opened the pendant to see the words "Even this will pass away!!" written on it. Emboldened by it, he lived in the forest and carefully collected his supporters, secretly multiplied his army and threw away the invader to reclaim his throne. On the celebration of the victory of his army, the king again opened his pendant to see the same phrase "Even this will pass away"!! So, he became careful not to get entangled in the luxuries of being king and ruled his subjects fairly and wisely.
So, I would just advise you to take heart that "all this will pass away", but I am not saying that this(bad luck) or that(good luck) would be permanent. Ironically, the only permanent thing in this world is Change. I think you will be fully prepared to appreciate the change when it does come. Wish you the best of luck from all my heart!!

I love that story! Yeah funny thing is that when somethings do go right I get all edgy and nervous waiting on the bad to come around but I DO appreciate the good. SO I guess that somehow I am supposed to quit worrying (which is very hard to do when its like this all the time) and just enjoy the good while I have it.
Maybe I feel I dont deserve any good for the bad things that I HAVE done in my life. I would make an excellent nun flogging myself over my guilt.

LOL wow then I defintely chossing to come back as a bad person next time! really though, although materially I aint getting much luck, I was referring to lots of other things in my life....being abused in all manners, too many health problems for anyone my age, things going bad for no apparent reason etc.
I have always thought that being strong enought to deal with all life has sent my way was a good thing but lately I have decided that enough is enough and I am not that strong nor would anyone I know be....EVERYONE of my friends and loved ones call me cursed.

I don't understand Karma i.e. the "cause/effect", etc. The cause of what? The effect of what? Anyways, I can totally relate to you and your demise as I have experienced bad luck most of my life and it stinks. Someone once said that you decide your fate before you are born in order to experience certain things in order to learn and grow. I sincerely doubt that I would've requested all of these bad things in my life just to learn and grow. I'd much rather be told. Trust me, I'll learn and grow. Also if I have enough ability to decide my fate, why wouldn't I decide to be prosperous and care free. Overwall what would it benefit me to request negativity in my life? To learn? No thanks!! IMO one would have to be massachistic to want to experience bad auras in order to learn. What would I be learning for? I don't know. It's so distressing and confusing. It's like someone other us are making the rules and fooling us into believing their lies. Who knows?

I'm sorry to hear that. Try to be more positive about life because thinking positive thoughts attract positive energy. If you think that you are unlucky, surely you will be unlucky. That is my belief. What i know about karma is that even the good deeds are rewarded. Be a little more patient. Always remember that in life even bad things happen to good people. You are not alone.
