Hi, i'm from Indonesia. I've been at Canada couple days ago. And i think it's great. Very great. Van Couver, the place where i stay, is very well-arranged, moreless clean.
I have an idea to live and work in Canada as doctor. What do you think? Is it good idea? What about the life of people who are still considered as immigrants there? I know that Canada is the country of immigrant because of their massive number.

Hello, I'm from Canada and I must say that if you need a job, Canada is the place to come. Doctors are actually in demand right now. There are a huge number of Canadians who do not have family doctors. However, before making arrangements to immigrate here, I'd first find out if your PHD will be accepted here. I know that in some cases, the practices are not the same from country to country. BC is an absolutely beautiful place to live and there are ample opportunities to work here. Good luck.

Really, i'm very glad to hear that. And very excited of course. About the standard of salary? Do you know about that? How much is the minimum regional salary? What about the insurance policies? The rights of immigrants? I know that i need to be an immigrant for 2-5 years before i could become Canadian. What about the institution? Do they will treat immigrant just like they treat Canadian? This thing is usually apply in some countries where they treat immigrant like they treat a complete stranger.

Minimum Wage in Ontario is $8.75/hr. I don't know what it is in BC right now but they keep raising it. As for insurance - if you are talking medical - most good firms offer their employees benifits after 3 months of employ. The benifits cover most medical and dental expenses. As for visiting a doctor or hospital as an immigrant though will cost you. Once you become a citizen, you will be covered by OHIP for any visits to the doctor or hospital. Immigrants in Canada are treated like citizens as long as they act and obide by Canadian law. Canada is very multi cultural and you won't find it hard to fit in here. I suggest you go onto the Government of BC website and look into some things first just to ease your mind.

Hm, it's a very tough question but I will have to say no, British Columbia is not the best place on Earth to live. That's speaking from personal experiences especially when it came to growing up as a hearing impaired person. I would also urge you to please be careful because a few months ago, Greyhound (yes, Greyhound) driver ran over my backpack after driving like he was drunk. That company never paid me back for the laptop. If you do come to British Columbia, please be careful.
