going back to work

I have been a hard worker since I was 19 years old. I have been a single mom of two working full time and college full time and I've been a mother of three working part time. March of 2007 I decided to stay at home with my son who was born in Jan. of 2007. Recently I have decided to go back to work. Full or part time. I have a steady work history and I'm educated, still, it feels like I'm never going to get anything! Has anyone else ever decided to stay at home with kids then go back to work later and find it seems harder to get a job? Its not just the job market because where I live, as long as you aren't above doing manual labor, there are plenty of opportunities. I don't know what my problem is.
