My 23 year old has had a band here in Gainesville for a year now. I live listening to them play. The play a combination of punk rock, oldies, and rock. The came up with a good idea for having a place to practice. They rented a storage unit and split the payment between them. Now they can just meet there and their equipement is already there. When they are done, they just unplug everything and lock the storage unit. The haven't agreed on a name yet. My son plays lead guitar and sings. Do any of you have children in a band?,or were ,are you in a band? I think music is really good for kids to get into. Keeps them out of trouble.

Hi!
That's good to hear! As a child I had a friend who was largely into bands. Now is a the lea guitarist i a leading band in our country. It feels good to remember the old days when he insisted me on listening the Jimi Hendrix CDs (his idol). He never pursued studies but now doing great all by himself.
I think its good for your son to channelise his talent and knowing tat he is the lead guitarist and the singer I am sure he is the heart of the band. Even though in bands all are equally important. Just encourage him and I am sure he will go places. Good thing that they have got a proper place to practise. That's very important. Now they can concentrate on their music whole heartedly.
Good luck to him.

Hi there Free Fogging!
That's really nice that you have a talented child. I am a music lover but not a band member. My husband though, used to be the lead guitarist in my uncle's band where my uncle is the vocalist. He is a really good guitarist without a biased opinion. Now, he teaches me play the guitar and I am learning, slowly, though.
