Movies wouldn't be complete without villains. They are there to make the lead look miserable and for them to gain the audience's sympathy. I think, this is the only profession where you are paid to physically and emotionally hurt somebody else. Well, it would be fun acting such role. For you, who do you consider the best villain in movies? Who portrayed the necessary evilness effectively?

as of the moment, i think it would be heath ledger as the joker in dark knight..oh man, how i love his acting there..so sad he already passed away..i see him as the next johnny depp as being so versatile and very effective at the same time with his roles. i also loved meryl streep in her rude but fashionably villain role in the devil wears prada. she has the best facial expressions =)

I have three, Keyer Soze and both Heath's Joker and Jack's Joker. All three are cunning and ruthless and seem to really enjoy their work. And besides, there isn't a movie without these villains. They are the main reason , Usual Suspects, Batman 1989, and The Dark Knight are the great movies they are.

If you guys are aware of the anime series in Japan tittled HunterXHunter, the villain that I admire is Kuroro Lucifer, he's very organized and intelligent, he has the respect of all his members whose all end up become murderers and thieves, he's the strongest of them all, they end up like that because they were just survivors of an exiled place, they don't have families they only got each other. They lost direction of their life since the day they end up on an exiled place, and I think its their reason of hatred on the world. I also admire Lex Luthor in smallville played by Michael Rosenbaum, he's an ordinary boy like everyone else since the day of meteor shower (the day Clark kent came to earth) his brain was affected by the meteor radiation and made him bald lol. He become the villain of the story because of his father who never love him and everyone who knows his father hates him without even knowing his true self. Because his father is the most powerful making the bad picture of the community. Her mother was jailed by his father because of misunderstanding. He grew all by himself. He maybe have all the riches and resources but there's nobody who looks after his real self, nobody wants to make friends with him.

I think that the best movie villain is Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmations. Glenn Close did a wonderful job of making her fun and mean at the same time. I don;t watch scary movies so she is as evil as I go. LOL

There's so many good ones that spring to mind! Some of the best include Alan Rickman in Robin Hood and Tim Curry in Legend. Brilliant baddies. Tim Curry was also really evil in The Three Musketeers. He makes a fantastic villain!

Undoubtedly it is Joker. Though I don't like role of villain in any film but since they are inseparable pert of the storyline of any film, we can't avoid them also. So I evaluate them purely on the basis of quality of their acting in the film and on this criteria, the role of joker played by Heath Ledger is one of the best, I have seen in any film.

I think that Glenn Close made an excellent villan in Fatal attraction. Alos I dont know if you would really call him a villan or not but I think Alan Rickman in the Harry Potter movies plays an excellent dark character. The professor is a good kind of good/bad character. I like him very much in that role.

Hi tidgea. I have two villains that is my favorites in movies. One of them doesn't appear in all the movie but his actions made all the difference with the emotions he could provoke. This villain is Sauron from The Lord Of The Rings. The other villain is Voldemor from Harry Potter. He provoke suspense all the time and I think that this two villains are great. Cheers and have a good day.

It would have to be Darth Vader. I think he is the villain that all other modern movie villains are measured against.

Hi! I've really no favorite movie villain but if I'd choose one, I'll go with (***major spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie "The Usual Suspects"***) Kevin Spacey as Keyser Soze (that won him an Oscar award! ). There wasn't really a lead that he tortured. In the movie, Kevin was initially "Verbal Kint" who was being interviewed by an investigator to point out who the real villain is. What he did was "tell the story" to the investigator. Throughout the movie, no one knows who the villain is until a victim said the key word "Keyser Soze". The movie tries to show scenes of this Keyser Soze in the shadows. Then at the ending, Verbal turns out to be Keyser Soze. He was able to lie a whole story to the investigator who actually bought the story at first until he saw the sketch of the real Keyser Soze. Really, really, reeeeaaaalllyyy smart villain! He just played with the authorities
