Hi everyone!
Last night I went to buy a meal at a nearby canteen from where I live. There were only 3 customers at that time, me and 2 guys buying a case of wine. There are a variety of meals sold in containers and at the far end of the counter is a basketful of green mangoes being sold. The two guys are standing near the mangoes and I just kept glancing at them cause they were talking too loud and you can't help but glance.
I am about to pay my order while the guys were being handed the case of wine, they paid first and after paying they went on but I saw the other guy took several pieces of mangoes from the basket and put them inside the case and the canteen owner didn't see what the guy did. The guys saw me looking at them while taking the mangoes and they kept staring at me while walking away grinning. I wanted to tell the owner what I saw but I got scared thinking they might come back at me. They saw me and they might know where I live and I think they just live within my area too so I decided not to tell the owner instead.
Do you think I was wrong for not telling what I saw? It's not that I don't care, the canteen owner is my neighbor but I really got scared for my own safety. I feel guilty though whenever I think about it. Is it ok to be scared sometimes? As some of my friends here know I live alone.

I think you did the correct thing. Since, it was only you and the other's in the store, you were basically unprotected. They know that you saw them take the mangoes. The mangoes, would be important to the store owner, but the value of them is not worth you risking your safety. These guys could have waited for you to come out of the store. Do not feel guilty about this, it is not like it was a valuable item taken.
In your case, I think I would have looked other way too.

Hi! Yes I know what the guys took wasn't so valuable, but the thing is it's stealing and that's what's making me feel guilty. We used to have a business too so I somehow care for my neighbor's business. But I still want to look after my sfety too so maybe what I did isn't bad after all. I just hope I don't get to see those bad guys again.
Stay happy in mylot!

Hi! Yes you're right. It's not that I'm hoping something bad would happen to them because of what they did but there is someone up there who saw it and can strike back at them anytime. I hope they got a bad appetite for eating the mangoes hehe
