Have tattoos affected your life???

I´m considering getting a tattoo soon but there are so many opinions on that. My family of course disagrees completely. My mom says that she doen´t even want to now if i go ahead and do it. My husband says that he thinks it´s sexy, as long as it´s something small or discrete. Lots of people have tattoos all over, you can see their arms and neck, and well at the beach some people are covered all over. So is it really true that people discriminate beacuse of tattoos?? What about the working place???? Do you thing it will affect someones opinion of you if you have any tattoos? Or what about a job interview? Will it lower my possibilities of getting that job? How will it affect my kids? Do you think they will be embarrassed if somebody teases them about their mom having tattoos? Theres so much to take in consideration,,,it doesn´t just have to do whether you have decided and set your mind to it, or on how insecure you are. Bcause really if it affects others then it something tothink about.
