Exoskeleton suit helps paralyzed people walk

I just saw this article link posted on MSN and thought it was rather interesting. A suit was developed that can get those that are paralyzed out of their wheelchairs and walking again. The inventor is paralyzed himself but because he does not have use of his hands and arms, he cannot use his own invention. The man that is being followed in the article seems overjoyed about it because he can walk again, even if he's not doing the walking himself. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26391953/wid/11915773?GT1=31036 What do you think about this? Do you think this should be available widely for those that are paralyzed if they wish to use it?

That's very cool - how much like the idea Anne McCaffrey used in her book, The Ship Who Searched. You might want to give it a read if you like SF. Heck, almost any of McCaffrey's books are worth reading - and re-reading.

I think that this is great! It would give a new life to those who have been cnfined to a wheelchair all or most their lives and then they can experience walking and being able to do things they haven't been able to do or haven't be able to in a long time. I am sure that this new technology will be expensive but a worthy cost.I would use it if I could afford it. yes.

I think that's awesome. It's good to see exoskeletons put to practical everyday use too! It'll be neat to see how this technology progresses over time, as well.

That's great. Even better would be if we could heal those people's injuries! And in a perfect world, of course it should be available for everybody who needs it. But that would cost more money that would be possible,I think.
