Customer Suck

Yes another rant about work, there are a lot of nice customers, who you can have a nice talk with while you are blowing up their balloon, they listen to your complaints about a bad back or whatever and you listen to their complaints about whatever and time passes nicely.
But then you get the customers that are talking to people while you are trying to serve them, I have to ask you the follow questions when you have a balloon:
- For the money
- For your rewards card
- What colour ribbon you want
- Whether you want a weight
- What height you want it
- Is it done to a high enough standard
So please do not talk to someone, I can serve you a lot quicker, if I do not have to either a) interrupt your conversation b) wait until you have finished.
Also there are the people that you do not see, but you see the effects of, the ones that try stuff on in the middle of the store in front of the mirror and hang it on the nearest peg rather than putting it back. You also have the people that rip open packaging to see the items inside and just leave it lying and then you have the people with children (who just won't shut up) and leave them in the party section. PS. Just because we have stuff that will attract children does not make us a daycare centre.

I used to work in a stationery store that had Hallmark cards on one side and business stationery on the other side. One woman came in looking at cards and just stuffed them back anywhere. It looked like a hurricane where she had passed. So I just followed her and put them back right behind her. I don't think she appreciated it much. And then I loved the ones who asked about our check cashing policy even though there was a fairly large sign right there with all of the information! Or the ones who asked for itemized written receipts after all the merchandise had gone into the bags. Still, most of them were really nice...

Yeah and it's not as if it's THAT hard to put cards back in their slots. This person didn't even try...

I hate it when people just put stuff anywhere when it would be equally as easy to put it back. I can understand if you are in a big store and you picked something up on one side, decided you didn't want it and didn't want to walk all the way back, but when you pick something up stand still and then put it elsewhere it is just annoying.

I hate days when we get nasty patients like that. But luckily its not all the time!

It really sucks that you are on the front line, so although it is someone else's fault you have to take the blame for the company rather than the doctor, whose fault it actually was.

Hey there Eli, I do know what you mean. When it comes to customer service and pleasing customers there are no direct A,B,C code of conduct or should I say customers' book of conduct when it comes to buying, LOL. There's nothing that sellers could do, or in your case in your counter area. Patient is the only word. I used to work years before dealing with customers over the phone and just on the phone they were already irritating. So I can imagine you having to deal with them face to face. I don't think I can work in the service line at all and that's why I'm in my present job. Take care and have a great day, Eli. Image: http://www.freedigitalphotos.net

I remeber when I worked with customers face to face and it really used to annoy me too about those things - especially more than anything was while they were on their mobile whilst you were serving them - I mean how rude is that!!!

The section that I work on most the time, sells balloons and people can place orders for balloons for special occasions like birthdays and weddings etc. So I understand that people need to be on their phone, obviously one person cannot organise a whole wedding (without becoming very stressed) so they need to contact each other about the details to avoid things going wrong, the bride not being happy or anything else.
