If you had to move

Would you pack yourself or pay a moving company. I tell ya, I have quite a few boxes packed after thinking my house was about to be sold. Lenders aren't giving up the loans so I took it off the market. If the market is better in January, it's back on the market. I just dread packing the rest.

Ten years ago, we built sold and built our dream home. I had to move twice, once into temporary lodging and then into our new home. The first move, I thought I could do it all with minimal help. It was the worst five days of my life. I knew better the second time and asked for plenty of help. Much less stressful. Lesson: ask for your friends help when it comes to moving.

My worry is when we close and if I haven't found the home I want, then we have to rent something. Then when we find the home we want, start packing again. Storage may be an option. Just have to make sure nothing that's used frequently gets placed in storage. It's stressful thinking about it.

We had that arranged and yes we put a lot in storage, actually at a friend's place in his basement. Then when we built, once the attic was finished and could be locked, I started moving all of the boxes to the new house so that when move-in day did come, there was alot less to move. But don't hesitate to ask for help if you make the move yourselves.

Hi Mzkuma, I moved 5 times in a year once and done it all myself so the last time I moved just over two years ago I paid for a removal firm, I did all the sorting and packing though, I love that bit as it gives me chance to really see what I need and don't and an axcuse for a new wardrobe or furniture upon arrival at new home. Hope the market icks up for you. Ellie :D

I intend to stay where I am for the rest of my life now as I am very settled but the five times in one year was when I first lost my home and was moved from pillar to post for a while but the bulk of my stuff was in storage at the time so not too bad really. Ellie :D

5 times in a year?!! Now that is some moving. 5 times in 5 years is a bit much for me. I can not imagine having to move that many times. I sure hope you don't have to move any time soon. I hope the market picks up soon too. If not, well, I will just stay planted where I am.

I think I'd rather be asked-"If you were to stay...",
My husbands office has this hobby of moving there people all over the world...LOL. The kids reaction would just be..what, so soon?! My husband doesnt want to leave us behind when he is required to go to places for a year or 2 or 3,we will never know. It's funny because he tags us along, everything as in every single furniture in the house, yet he has to travel back where our home is every 2 weeks. We had our house rented so we needed to bring all our things. The moving company shouldered by the office willtake charge of the packing and unpacking but you know how they are. They just stuff everything and anything in boxes without bothering to mark. So I pack ahead. Usually the office informs us months ahead. So upon learning that we are to move again, I start boxing everything until, my kids would say="mom, I cant find my ...!" tee hee hee...its in the box...all boxed up!enjoy packing...

LOL. (I feel for you). I don't think I know anyone who enjoys packing. I remember when we (my ex) were in Ft Stewart, people would sell their things rather than pack if they were going overseas. You could get some bargains. But, when it's time for you to be reassigned, you will get rid of all you can too.

believe me, how many times did I plan to sell evrything! My husband will be shouting...no! bring back everything inside.LOL...I love teasing him this way. The office shoulders all the moving expenses so there's no reason to get rid of anything. Almost all of our furnitures are hard wood antiques. Our house looks like a museum. I joke around that spirits come out at night. LOL. We buy things from the places that we live. Things that will become antique in time. They not only serve as remembrance but also treasures. We have this wooden gods of the ifugao, and thin stick wooden people from palawan. I tell people they watch over us and they believe me.LOL, my friends and kids say Im crazy...just enjoying life...HEEHEE. My goodness, hope nothing will turn out to be true!
