Is the loss from Wide Screen to Full Screen really that bad?

I always buy wide screen movies and I feel that full screen movies are "redirected", like someone repainting over someone elses art work. I know that some people like the full screen, but that is because they usually don't understand what has happened by using the "pan and scan" technique to alter the film from the original vision that the director had in mind. Most people don't think of film as art either(I DO!), and in that sense it does not hurt to draw a mustache on it by cutting it up:)

I think that most of the time it doesn't make too much of a difference and wide or full screen is just as good, but it also depends on where you are watching it. On my computer it doesn't really make a difference but on TVs it depends on the TV I have a normal TV on my room and full screen is much better to watch but on the living room we have a flat screen and definetly the wide screens are way much better, on this one the difference is even greater.

Well honestly I hate Wide screen I think it looks dumb and it is distracting. Full screen is so much easier to watch and well I dunno I love it a lot better, so no it wouldn't hurt my feelings if I never seen a wide screen movie again. LOL. I guess movies are movies no matter how you watch it but do you really wanna see two black lines while you are trying to watch Harry potter defeat Voldermort, Nope not me. I would be watching the black lines instead of the movie. Thanks for letting me share.

For the most part, I really don't care whether the movie is full screen or wide screen. I mostly do other things while watching a movie anyway. My husband is one of those picky people who insists on wide screen.

I don't think it matters too much. I usually go full screen, as they tend to sometimes be cheaper. Also, I kind of prefer the full screen being taken up, having large chunks of black (unless you have a wide screen TV) is kind of distracting. So one vote for full screen here, but not by much.
