is failure really a basis for our future?

just earlier that our teacher explained how failure can become a good thing rather than the opposite..IT'S WHEN YOU FAIL THAT YOU WOULD GET SUCCESS...She mentioned names of her classmates in computer science about how one used to fail three times in one subject but now is a scientist in the united states...
She explained that failure makes you learn more..it's not the grades and the transcript of records that would matter when you graduate..it's the experience and the things that you really learned that counts..My mind got stuck on those words when she mentioned that my four years in college should really be valued...
I've heard her point about failure...I want to know if some of you guys agree/disagree with her...

Well,I failed every term,but I believe"It isn't what happens to you that matters,it's what you do to what happens--that's attitude"
