he is very desperate to win!!! its time for us to say eight years is enough and vote for obama. Its time for a change. Obama seems more for the people. (by the way wonder what happened to mccains wifes arm and why its in a cast) is he really violent. I dont see mccain helping the people. i see obama helping everyone!!!

A fan at a convention shook her hand roughly and aggravated an old injury. I can't believe you would accuse McCain of being violent towards his wife. McCain and his wife do plenty to help people. Look into their non-profit organizations if you're curious.

Wow I've heard some stupid assumptions since this campaining started but how ignorant is it to assume because his wifes arm is in a cast he is a violent man. I also don't see how Obama is more for the people he is no less desperate to win this election then McCain is. Obama didn't pick Clinton as his running mate for a very politically motivated reason, McCain chose Palin for his own political motives. But lets face it the president and vice president don't really run the country anyway, it's the senate and the congress that do and that is the reason this country is such a mess. The party infighting that ties the hands of the president from doing anything. You want to see a change in the way the country is run then get a congress and senate that work with the president instead of against his every move and things will get better. Until then we will continue to sink

I think that Sarah Palin is heads above Hillary Clinton - both intellectually and ethically. Other than both being women, wives and mothers, there is not comparison - and it is obvious to see that they are very different in those aspects as well. I think Obama's rejection of Hillary as his running mate speaks volumes - he evidently feels that the United States is ready to have a black as a President, but doesn't feel that it is ready for a woman in the White House. It's time to bring some new people into the arena, and that is exactly what McCain did when he chose Palin as his running mate. They've got my vote!

McCain was very clever to keep it under wraps and you know he planned the timing perfectly in order to get the full excitement behind his choice. I had a feeling he would choose a woman but he did act as though he had no woman he was even considering. I think also he has been getting to know her better first and of course she had her son in April so he was problably making sure she would feel up for the job too. The fact is she is like him in many ways... a Maverick! She is tough on those of any party, those where Republicans she attacked for their criminal acts. She's a gold mine, and fully supports McCain as a VP. Strong in Family values, and good luck finding skeletons in her closet. It was a Surprise... a very, very, very good surprise!

Well for one he managed to keep the suspense right until the last minute just like Obama did so good effort there. Timing is everything! I think that it is a very smart move on his part and will pay positive dividends for him. Firstly it injects fresh young blood into his overall profile; and secondly it may just cause all of those that did wish for Hillary to be up there to think long and hard about their vote now. It is going to be very interesting seeing how all of this pans out in November.

Palin hasn't done much for Alaska. If McCain gets in, it will be worse than it was with Bush. Palin doesn't give a flip for the environment, she is opposed to abortion even if the woman raped or through incest. She is against a woman's right to choose. She looks good standing against an old man. Keep in mind, he is old and we could get stuck with her running the country. It's an emotional way to get votes. This will be interesting to watch. People have said this country isn't ready for a woman in the white house. At least with Clinton we had experience speaking. If this pair gets in, it will be four more years of hell. I just hope people do their homework before they cast their votes. I didn't like her as a governor of Alaska, she doesn't listen to the people. It will just be more of the same only on a grander scale.

I was surprised to see you didn't add the part about she just fires everyone that doesn't give her her way. I fully agree with the 4 more years of hell. Wonder how she will like McCain being in the pockets of big oil, since she fights them so much.

She will go along with him. After all, with them it is all about money and the hell with the citizens.

Finally someone who paid a little more attention to her past. You can put a good spin on anything if you have the media on your side but you can't hide the fact that her husband is the C.E.O. of BP or her record against the environment. We'd be handing the country over to the big oil companies.

I don't know a whole lot about her, don't think many people do, but one thing I do think the reporters had a good point on is how in the heck is Mccain going to criticize Obama for his lack of experience which is one of if not his main points, when he has now chosen a running mate with very limited experience. Nothing against her from what I hear she sounds like a stand up person, just a good point I think reporters had about all this.

But Palin actually HAS EXPERIENCE in LEADING. Obama has none. And she has stood up to the good ol boys. And stood up (against) PACs. And turned down money from Washington. Here hubby has been in a union, so she's much more apt to understand the average person and what he/she goes through financially.

Her name was mentioned as being on his short list a while back. Frankly, he did exactly what I said he should do. He kept quiet about her and waited for Obama to choose his running mate first. Had McCain chosen her sooner, Obama would have been forced to counter by picking Clinton, a move that would have made his ticket unbeatable. Since McCain waited till now, he has an edge with female voters and took away Obama's biggest weapon in Hillary Clinton.

Well, before this morning, I had never even heard of her. I looked in to her as soon as word crossed the wire about him picking her and I was prtty impressed with what I found. No real controversy that I know of, hard working, knows how to say no to the federal government so she should have no problem saying no when she is actualy in the federal government. Did a good ddeal of house cleaning in the alaskan state governmnt and got a lot of the trash out and good people in. she has an 82% aproval rating among her states people, that in itself is almost unheard of for a politician let a lone a governor. We'll see how it plays out, we have 67 days to learn more about her, but so far, I'm pretty impressed.

Well, I think McCain's move was not only surprising - but very cagey, and - a move that has put a whole new twist on the policical arena. What was done to Hiliary was unfair and there is a lot of emotional turmoil going on in the democratic party - or at least so it would seem. I think this pick by McCain - will add some zest to the whole process. It had all gotten so boring as it was. Palin seems to be an ordinary wife - and mom - like so many of the rest of us. I think it is deplorable that already the attacks had begun - as soon as McCain declared her as his running mate. It wasn't even 24 hours. For heaven's sake - let's give the girl a chance! How can so many be so judgemental towards her, when it is said that no one knows much about her. I just feel down deep inside, that she'll add some spunk and some fun to the debates and the whole process. Obama talks about change all of the time, and everyone thinks that's so great and inspiring - - - well, guess what? McCain is speaking the same thing by selecting who he did for his running mate. So - let's watch and listen, and see change in action. Very interesting - yup, very interesting, indeed. Classy Cat
