Sometimes I’ll find a discussion to comment on and before I know it I’ve responded to a 6 month or year old post. I’ll admit I don’t look at the date it was posted, I guess I just gloss over that part and read the discussion topic. I’m going to start dating my discussions, like this one is, that way you and I will know when they were posted. If you want to do this too go ahead, I have no copy write on this idea, just don’t sue your myLot friends for intellectual property.

That sounds like a great idea. I get replys all the time to discussions that I have started way back 2 years ago that I forgot about. Thanks a lot for starting this discussion. I am goint to start doing the same thing put the date that I start my discussions on.

Mylot already does that as noted here in one of the forum posts. It's always been in the corner. Did somebody get upset at you for commenting on an old discussion? I wouldn't. People will comment on things from way back on me here because; I am guessing, the subject matter interests them. Isn't that what this place is all about anyway?

No, nobody jumped on my trampoline. I just wanted to date them so when I look through the ones I've started I don't have to do any mental math.

That's a great idea. That will definitely save you some time not being confused. Why didn't I think of this first, lol? But doesn't it still count when you post on a 6 month old discussion? I've been doing that a couple of times, I believe. Then again, I don't really check when the discussions were made.

Good idea but theres already a time stamped on each discussion as far as time started etc. I guess if one needed to know the exact day they started it then this is great. But in general the time stamped already is sufficient enough for my likings.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

This is a great idea. I too have posted to old threads. But, I really don't mind. If the topic interests me and I have something to say, I post it. Sometimes these things get revitalized, which can be good.

Hi gitfiddleplayer.
I have often wondered if the date matters when we are posting to a myLot discussion. I assume that the person who started the discussion and the person who posted the discussion would still get "credit" for the posts, no matter how old they are.
I like your date idea, though. Thanks for sharing it.

You did this in August and it is now November... These posts do not seem to die ever...
You may though get tired of responding to them... grins.

I've done that too, after I posted I noticed the discussion was a year old. Sometimes I'll see a discussion and it will have the date on it, if its over a year old I won't respond. Thats a good idea to date our discussions, I promise I won't sue you for it...lol.

Putting a date on your discussions is a good idea and is useful to those who care about the date of the post before posting. But come to think of it... when I receive a response from my 6 years old post... it would even gladden my heart because it means the topic I posted has lasting attraction to reader. It is a delight to still earn from the old post I made and I believe the one who responded also earned from it. So does the date really matter?

I was wondering about the discussions of yours that I seen dated. I respond to outdated discussions as well it doesn't really bother me much unless the person is no longer active. I feel that they rather enjoy getting a old discussion commented on I know I do.

Interesting thoughts and ideas, but does that mean if someone like me who became a member in October 2006 would have done that, that if you found one of mine from 2006 brought up again, you would not post back to it, or would you still be surprized it continues to be posted here? For me, I feel it should not matter, as I enjoy posting back to others all of the time no matter when a discussion was started. Just wonder how many of them are active still as well when it is an older one as well.

well, i do respond to discussions that are months, or even years old. even if i do realise that, i will still respond to it. a good discussion should be be forgotten just because it's not new anymore. i guess i probably won't be dating my discussion unless it has got to do with something that happened on a specific date. however, your idea is a good one especially for fellow mylotters who prefer to reply to more recent discussions. this way, both 'camps' are satisfied. cheers ;p

I like the idea because commments drive the older post to the top and when I am looking at friends posts I want to know what the latest one is. Maybe we should contact mylot about adding the feature. Kind of like ebay sort discussions on your profile by date, responses, ect... That would be kool.

gitfiddleplayer hi there that is one neat idea. I get
so upset with myself when I find out I have already
responded to the older discussion that I had just
written a response to. You sure do not get any points
for responding twice to something. that is for sure.
