Hey there myLotters, I believe that there is a God because I have been through so many pain and failures in my life and been in the brink of taking my life but good events have happened that made me believe that there is a force who controls my life and give me goodness for having faith and also punishing me for doing sins. How did you came upon believing in God? Share with me...

I was baptised Catholic and my mum had a great hand in shaping my early years in a moral, God respecting way.
My belief in God is reaffirmed every time the train doors open directly in front of me, when the lights turn green and I don't have to wait to cross the road, when I walk home alone at night and get there safely, or when my family joins up and the love and gratitude overflow.
I find it so difficult to believe that with the amount of belief systems out there, there is not a God. I believe that no matter what the name of our God is, we all worship the same one and I don't think He minds what we call Him.

Yes, all the events that happens around us is a work of God. But it's hard to tell people this because it's hard for a logic-thinking person to see it. I wish there is only ONE religion in this world but apparently that is not the case as human are created different and have different thinking processes.

Isn't that the beauty of religion though? Not that you can pick and choose the aspects that appeal to you most, but that there is scope for discovering yourself as you discover different aspects of religion?
One religion as followed by the entire world would be terribly monotonous and would not cater to those people who follow and are inspired by God but don't show it in traditional manners. Religion is, after all, a personal thing.

yes, I totally agree. I respect other people's religion as long as they respect mine. ^^

Yeah, I agree with you, everything that has been happening around us is a manifestation that God is indeed there, watching us.
I am a believer. I do have a strong faith in what God can do in my life. I am sure He's up there, because I can feel His presence in my life. Every move I make, every actions I take, every decisions I formulate, everything I have, everything I don't have, everything comes from Him, so I have no doubt whatsoever that He's there...

Thanks for sharing. Most people who believe in God are very humble people who accepts that whatever success or failures that he or she experience comes from God and that there is a purpose for everything.

Hi Koharukusumi, I don't think it was any one thing that made me believe, all my life I grew up believing there was something more and went to church and felt humbled and very close to God and in my teenage years rebelled away from it all and then, about 8 years ago just knew that I needed to welcome Jesus into my heart and was Born Again and by doing this I felt a peace and contentment within myself that I knew I had been looking for. I preayer daily and am thankful for the blessings that have been bought into my life. My life hasn't been without struggle but it has made me a stronger person. Ellie :D

Hey ellie, it's good to hear that you too believe in God. Your path of faith is similiar to mine. Once, I did threw it all away because you will reach a stage when we start questioning what people taught us. Thanks for sharing.:D

Yes Dear, i believe in GOD...Many of us are born in a family, which believes in GOD and there you are taught that there is a GOD.
But when you grow up, the real test begins...You come across many things, which tell you YES there is a GOD..
To know there is a GOD, you must have a conscious...and you look around and find, yes all those things, that you cannot see, but only feel....is controlled by a POWER...
No matter, which religion you belong..every one will have his own share of experience ..which tells him ...GOD is here...

Yes, i totally agree, it's hard to believe in something so abstract. Like valuing a painting by Picasso. At first glance, it's a crap drawing by a child but if you see what's the meaning behind it then you can value it. It's the same as finding God in life. Thanks for the reply, honey.
