Most if not all persons love to sing. Well, some of us vocals are excellent and so we are just singing like larks while the rest of us are crowing like morning roosters..lol. Anyway, there are six things that are vital whenever you are going to explore with your vocals or do a powerful performance with them. 1.LOTS OF WATER( so that you are kept hydrated) 2.NO DAIRY PRODUCTS(especially if you're sinusitis) 3.REST(if you are going to do a stage performance) 4.WARM-UPS(so that your vocals don't crack) 5.BE RELAXED(if you are going to perform publicly ) 6.EXERCISE(because the shortness of breath may hinder intended long notes. Short breathing is mostly experienced by overweight persons. They may experience this complication if they are dancing and singing at once) 7.WORK THE DIAPHRAGM(this is located at the abdominal area. Using the diaphragm indicates that your breathing for singing is good. This type of breathing is called DEEP BREATHING because it is not from your chest. It is a process in which your abdomen bloats when you inhale and shrinks when you exhale. You can achieve this technique if you practice 10-15 mins daily.) Bye ;)

hi, thanks for all the tips. actually, i would just like to know how to know whether one is singing from his/her diaphragm? i love to sing, but i've not taken any formal lessons and no one has taught me how to sing properly. so i don't really know what it means when you say sing using your diaphragm. could you take a look at one of my videos and tell me if i am singing correctly. if it's wrong, could you tell me how to improve? thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrHG3t1UQgw

Hey Jedimind!! I'm glad that you appreciate all these tips...but let me tell you little a 'something-something'...I haven't gotten formal training either..shhh..don't tell anyone...lol. However, having read some articles online about 'singing techniques', I just decided to share them with you folks at myLot. So..auu..the diaphragm...hmm?.. a popular word in the world of singing...guess I'll have to take some time to understand that part of the anatomy. So..I watched your videos at youtube and I must compliment your voice..it's just natural and soothing! Simply amazing. Keep it up darling! Bye bye

Pretty good tips, but the no dairy products, does that mean all the time, or just an hour or so before you sing or do your practice. I would hate to have to fall down and break my hips because of the lack of calcium. I am rather large boned, but even if I do not have my two glasses of milk a day, my legs hurt. So will they have to wheel me on stage?

LOL..hey suspenseful! Thank you for responding. Anyway, here's my point of correction. Yes, you can have dairy products but just before you sing. And surely, dairies are good for your bones. HEALTHY BONES!! :) P.S sorry to hear about bone that leg prob you got.

Thank you for your tips. I love singing myself as much as I love music itself. Well, you said it right. Those tips are really recommended for us to maintain the smoothness of our throat for it to produce good sound. Good singing also boils down to self-discipline. Happy posting.
