I hang up on telemarketers, spam mail usually have an envelope or card to mail back so I mail it back with no info on it. They have to pay the postage. Got any other ideas?

There´s a number you can ring in the UK (don´t know what it is!!!) to ask for your number to be removed from the central list so telemarketers don´t reach you. Else just say "I´m not interested, please remove my number from your list" - if you don´t want information they won´t bother ringing again. As for spam mail, what you´re doing sounds fine. I am sick of junk mail & unsolicited flyers!!

For a while I worked for MORI market research conducting telephone surveys - not selling anything. Some people are sooooo rude - unneccessarily rude really. Most times it was funny and we used to have a laugh about it but if you were on a downer anyway it was really demoralising. People just don't understand if you are using a random dialler it's just chance what number you get. Also what a lot of people don't realise is market research companies are excluded from these privacy services because they are not trying to sell you anything. Sometimes I was conducting research commissioned by the Government for goodness sake and then you get some loony on the other end of the phone screaming that they're going to shove your phone where the sun don't shine!!! You can say no to people and still be polite. I never buy anything over the phone but I refuse politely! Junk mail through the post doesn't bother me - I just put it in the recycle bin without reading it. Now on the other hand what REALLY drives me crazy is spam email!! That turns me feral!

The ones calling to do a survey never pushed me if I said no. Most times I would do the survey for them as long as they didn't try to sell me anything. Most survey type didn't try to sell and were respectful.

Well, I am on a DO NOT CALL LIST, so I do not have to worry except for somehow when someone gets mine or my husbands Cell phone number, and tried to call. My husband always tells them he is busy eating, no matter what time of day they call, and can they call back later. As to the Mailing their envelope back to them, you should also include a Business card in there ... maybe with your MyLot url and see if you can get a Referal... LOL

When a telemarketer calls I tell them that I am not interested then I go on to try to sell them something that I owe. For example my car. I tell them it has low mileage, great gas mileage, etc... Then I tell them they can make monthly payments etc... They always hang up on me. i love it!

Can't really do anything about spam mail, but I do ask them to put my name on the do not call list.

i would not play tricks on telemarketers because i have experienced being one. i would just politely decline if i am not interested with their offer. some offers through telemarketers are worthwhile and valuable. i also would not bother mailing back spam mail.

In most cases I just tell telemarketers to take me off their list but sometimes I mess with them. They have this speil they need to go through and sometimes its a long one so I just let them do it and then act interested so they have to keep trying to convince me. Then when they have wasted about twenty minutes I hang up. Did you know that they can't hang up on you even if your being a jerk. If you plan on messing with them get their name and extension and then mess with them so if they ahng up you can call them back and ask to speak to their manager and get them in trouble.

I found a website a while back that ultimately give you a script to go through with them, as they would you. So you end up being the 'telemarketer' ;) I can't remember the link now.

If you have an answering machine start screening your calls. Put a message on there that says you are now call screening and that if this is a telemarketer they can hang up and add you to their do not call list as you do not accept telmarketing calls, that gets most of them to hang up on my am right quick!

these calls are not always annoying... why are people afraid of even attending these calls, if you dont want what they are selling or talking about you can always hang up and ask them to not to call back again and they obviously wont cuz they dont want to waste their time.... the only thing i noticed is people are stupid enough that they think if they are going to attend these calls they are going to be fooled by the telemarketer... BE SMART, you should atleast have guts to talk to anyone, and if its something good u should go for it... but people are usually not confident upon theirselves and they think once they pick up the phone they are going to be fooled.
