Yes, it is true. The great thing about foreign news sources is that they report the news and make editorial comments that most American journalists just refuse to report and comment on. Check out this one. http://www.edmontonsun.com/Comment/2008/08/30/6614841-sun.html I say the Canadians are in a much better position to be objective and report fairly. I value their opinion and perspective. What do you say?

Absolutely, and I think they laid it out quite well. McCain brings a lot of experience, and Obama has a speech, that he probably can't give without a teleprompter.

You do know this means you agree with Hillary about at least one thing. Your remarks are similar to what she said herself while still campaigning against Obama.

It has always interested me to see how differently the same news story or even historical event can be portrayed by different sources. Take the Vietnam War for example. I have been to Vietnam and of course the museums and the written materials about this war are far different from the Vietnamese perspective compared to what I was taught in school. This is obviously no surprise but I mean VERY different! Same goes with local news channels here in Egypt. They will cover Israel related news in a manner FAR different to how CNN does. I would have to agree that not just the Canadians but ANY journalist or news house outside of the US is in a position to be far less biased. For one they are not hammered as heavily by the daily innuendo that someone local would be so can be far more objective with the factual information. They are also far more sheltered from the corruptive influences that we all know local news organizations would be facing. Given how long these campaigns have been running and how much BS has also been going back and forth; it would be a great step for many Americans to take more notice of external viewpoints I feel.

There is nothing with which to disagree here! As to the Vietnam war, I still have a letter from Radio Hanoi dated in 1968 where they informed me they were answering my question I sent them on air. I even had a question I sent to Radio Moscow answered on air, too, while on active duty in the US Army. I expected someone to knock on my door, but they never did. Long story short, I'm an advocate of getting the other sides opinion going way back.

Good attitude to have then because the further we push the non-conformist boundaries the closer we get to the truth! Is there any chance of sharing the two questions you put forward in each instance and how they answered them?

I am glad you value the opinions expressed by Canadian Media. I am sure you are aware they are not free of bias. For instance the Edmonton Sun seems to be pro McCain and anti Obama. In general though I agree with you, Canadians are close to the US and yet they can take a step back and bring a different perspective to the news.

I think the article was well written. I think that the author hits on how a lot of Americans feel. I would like to say that most reporting outside of the States would be unbiased but that is not true. Who we elect effects the world. I would say however that Canada is probably the closest to being unbiased! Thank you for the link.

I find this surprising that McCain supporters would be taking a selection of one Canadian journalits opinion and saying it is great that people in Canada do not support Obama. I remember a big outlash from Republicans when European leaders and polls from Europe were pointing toward support for Obama. It was like a vote for Obama would be u-American becuase some Europeans like him. Well this Canadian stuff just really scares me, McCain must be a secret Canadian agent we should all be very afraid!

This is pretty much a universal thing. I'll bet US papers are a good source for Canadians concerning certain aspects of their country. Distance is always good for objectivity.
