Why do we get cranky when we are hungry?

I wonder why. What is the scientific explanation to this? Don't you ever find yourself in such situation? The other day when I went to a supermarket with my sister after a hot, long day, she was trying to bug me. But I was not in the mood to joke and fool around. Instead I shouted at her. She asked me why I was suddenly being in a bad mood. I just kept quiet. Before I left the supermarket, there was a bakery stall just at the exit, so I suggested we should stop by and have some coffee and something to eat. That is when my sister said that no wonder I was being cranky! Hmm I wonder why??

i think it's because our brains are affected when we are hungry that also affects other parts of our body.. as you what i know, many people who are very hungry easily gets irritated and lose control of themselves.. what's worse about this is that when this is not given a remedy immediately, there is a big possibility that the person will loose his/her head.. like he/she will be out of his/her mind.. that's why it's very important to eat whenever you're stomach is grumbling.
