It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Thank you, Mr. Rogers. And thanks to Ray Stevens for his song 'Everything is beautiful'. Everything is beautiful in its own way Like a starry summer night Or a snow-covered winter's day And everybody's beautiful, in their own way Under God's Heaven The world's gonna find a way There is none so blind As he who will not see We must not close our minds We must let our thoughts be free That is just a part of the beautiful song by Stevens. You can find the rest of it at http://www.guntheranderson.com/v/data/everythi.htm This is indeed a gorgeous day here, with the sun shining brightly. And it's a beautiful day in this nation when we can have an election with two people that we might not ordinarily see on the ballots. Obama has made it to be the nomination as the democratic choice for President. I really thought Hillary Clinton would be in that spot. Then there is the history making choice of Sarah Palin by McCain to be his vice-president. This is the first woman ever to be on any republican ticket. I believe she has added a great deal to the ticket. Palin is young, experienced beyond her years and that is executive experience, something that neither Obama or Biden have. She is outspoken, unequivocally able to stand up to the politicians that consider themselves above reproach. In other words, she appears to be a gutsy lady! I know some people have expressed their disbelief in his choice of Palin, but I think McCain has outdone even himself and he's sure making people's heads turn! Yes, this is a beautiful day and I'm happy to call myself an American!!

I'm happy to call you an American too Barb! LOL I nearly fell over when I saw McCain's running mate. Nostradamus predicted that there would be a woman president in the U.S. in 2010. Rather makes you wonder doesn't it? I'll be watching U.S. politics very closely from now on!

Well, thank you, Sparks. I didn't know about the prediction. But I did hear a clip where someone said a few months ago that he thought that she would be a perfect running mate. I do believe she is for a time such as this. I'm excited about watching the next 60 odd days with her and McCain. I believe she can handle anything that comes her way.

I agree. She gets a lot of coverage here on the news in the west at times because of the pipeline she's just approved. Alberta is going to be sooooooooo relieved when that's all done! I like her. She needs a wardrobe update, but hey, you can't always have brains and a fashion sense too! ROFL

You have a great attitude, and it would help the country a lot if we could all follow your example. I agree about Sarah Palin. I am proud to be in a country that does have free elections and does its best to keep them untainted.

GardenGerty, I think a healthy attitude helps us live longer. I have never been a worrier. Oh, there are things that do bother me, but I don't dwell on them.
