I was lying down with my son to have a little nap as I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night and we were chilling out on my bed and he was rubbing my stomach for me as these days I'm quite uncomfortable... its really hot today and being almost nine months pregnant well its just not as comfy as I used to be. Suddenly Xavier looked at me with a solemn look on his face and asked if it was going to hurt when I exploded. At first I wasn't sure what he was talking about as I was already half asleep. So I asked what he was talking about... you know when the baby comes is it going to hurt when you explode? I just lay there for about ten minutes laughing myself silly. I thought I had done a good job telling him that when the baby comes I have to go to the hospital but I never really got into the details of how she is to come out. I tried to explain to him through tears now streaming down my face that I was going to go to the hospital to have the baby but I wasn't going to explode or go ka-boom in his words... Kids crack me up!!!

When i was young the same thing happened even now im scared of what my mom told me what really happens when a women is giving birth to a child , yes when i was small my mom carrying my brother , when i asked why was her stomach grew big she said that either a bro or a sister is inside her stomach i was not knowing what she said and i just kept quiet after i grew a little bit more i asked how does childeren are born she said the stomach of a mom is cut open to give birth to a child.. i was so scared i dared not to question my mom from then , since i was girl i dint want to marry at all as it was a nightmare for me since im abiology student i came to know the true fact when i was 16 years and now im nearly 20 now im okie and know all the process of that... sometimes parents has to teach somthing which really doesnt scare their childeren good you have told something to your child and it did not cause anything to him i suppose..

I have always loved the uninhibited words that children come out with! My daughter was only 15 months old when my son was born so I was not really able to have her interact with the concept of a pregnancy and birth in any detailed way. The fun part will be explaining to him where your tummy has gone! lol. It sounds like you have some amzing times ahead and I wish you all the best with the birth!

Maybe he found the TV on while aliens was on. I imagine that creates quite a disturbing image.

There's NOTHING like looking at life through NEW EYES. Even explaining to kids, they have NO concept of what you're talking about. They have no clue they don't understand so they have NO idea what questions to ask. Then when their mouths opens with their truth, it is ALWAYS precious!!!

I'm still laughing, because I heard it from the "horse's mouth", so to speak. I spoke with Xavier this morning, and Kaboom was his favourite word to describe his mom. He's so totally innocent of all that is going on, except that he is certain it is a sister and he all but chose her name. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship between siblings. And the fact that my daughter and I can share the laughter of her "exploding" is truly a gift. Here's hoping that Mr. X has more words of wisdom to share in the days to come. Gotta love him - I know we do.

Yes, that's funny, but what more can you expect from some one like him to say.. That's why kids are said to be the cutest of all due to their innocence...

That is just too cute!! Kids think up the funniest things, but then again because they don't know how everything works they have to make it up as they go along and hope they are right. Thanks for sharing this and congrats on the little soon to be!! :D

It is confused explaining to young children how the baby actually comes out. They do get told that you will taken to hospital but obviously that hasnt killed his curiosity. Depending on his age maybe find a good library book that might explain things more. Kids do say the funniest thing, I like it when they just ask questions randomly. You havent spoken about the topic for a while, its like their brains are just digesting the information and they realise that they need to ask questions!! Bet it was hard trying to explain through tears, bet he wondered why you were crying!!
