How long will you be a stay at home mom?

I have been a stay at home mom for 7 years now. Although, I love parts of it my kids are growing up and all are in school now. My kids are 12, 11, 10 and 7. There are times when I would love to work but then I get calls from school and it reminds me of what would happen if I wasn't home to receive them. Not to mention working and then coming home to clean:( Yet I don't want to be out of the workforce so long that I can't get back in.
How long do you plan to stay at home? In today's time is it reasonable to be a stay at home mom (wife) for the rest of your days? What are your plans?

i have been a stay at home mom for about 3 years but i'll probably go back working in a year or to i thought about next year when my oldest starts kindegarden but i'll probably wait til 1st grade cuz i still have my 18 month old

My son is 5 and I have been at home with him since he was born I worked until my last trimester when i was ordered by doc to stay home. Anyway he has started full day kindergarten this school year so i will be back to work, as soon as I can find a job. The economy stinks right now and there arent many jobs out there, so I might be a SAHM for a bit longer than i had expected to be.
