Do you remember what you were doing this day in 1997?

In 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car wreck.
I still have a hard time with this. I can remember waking up and hearing this. My oldest was only six months old. I loved Diana.
I can remember staying up to watch her wedding. Friends thought I was crazy but it was such a fairytale time.
She was such an amazing lady. You can tell that my looking at her boys!
I honestly believe she got a bum rap in live with the royal family. I really believe that Prince Charles loved her, but coming from such a dysfunctional family he didn't know how to handle love.
I also feel like she has gotten a bum rap in death. Her brother should have never buried her on their estate. She was the "people's princess" and I think he has cheated many people by not letting them pay their respects to her.

I remember because I was on a camping trip with my then boyfriend in Canada's boundary waters. We were headed back home and stopped at a shop before crossing the border. The storekeeper asked us what we thought about Princess Diana dying and we had no idea so I was at a loss of words really as I felt so out of touch. I remember at the time I just felt like I really didn't care but later I realized what a great loss it was. Back about 4 years ago I was in Paris and we went through that tunnel and you could still see the marks left on the columns.

Oh wow, that had to be eerie going through the tunnel, is there any type of memorial there?
Thanks for the response.

As a matter of fact I do..... I was sitting at the kitchen table doing a crossword in the newspaper when I heard the report from a television in another room. I instantly had goosebumps and although I have never been an ardent Royal Family follower I was absolutely stunned and upset by the whole thing. May she rest in peace as she was a welcome addition to the Windsors that added much needed popularity to their standing. As for Prince Charles? Hopefully they will bypass him for King and go straight to Prince William. This would be a very positive step in my opinion.

I agree with you that Prince William should be the next king.
Thanks for the response.

I remember it exactly...I was browsing a magazine when the news came out in the television.
I stopped what I was doing and focused...still in disbelief of what I was hearing. Then I started to cry.
Diana is an icon that had captured the heart of a lot of people. Her charm, her kindness, her love.
It's such a sad memory but she lives upto this day to the very heart of people who witnessed her in this world.
