I'm here last nite. Actually i had forgotten about independent day until few hours ago when i saw the parade from the news highlight. What a shame on myself.. When i was a teenager, my friends and i used to go to the field to count down with the crowd. We see fireworks and shows. It's so fun. And I love the feel of being independent. Unluckily this year came out issue a day before the celebration which really makes me sad about it. Malaysian should know what happened. I pray that everything will back to normal again.

We should cherish our nation's independence & peace. I still remember the parades. When we were young we would get up early & watch it LIVE on TV. When they had the parade in Penang, I still remember taking part in the march as I was in my high school scout team & was chosen to march along the street. Quite a distance I should say, haha

Very happy that our nation has come a long way. But I didnt hear any blasting of car horns at the countdown cos was fast fast asleep by then. On the day itself I just went for service then went to get some groceries especially butter - an essential stuff in our home was on sale. Wanted to go grocery shopping up further at another hypermarket but didn't in the end because it the feedback I got was crazily alot of people ther until no trolleys. So its better we head for home.

Glad you had a good time. Times have changed. The fun filled patriotism activities seemed to have mellowed. Nevertheless, we are still proud of our independence.

My wife & I watched a movie then went to sleep? HAhaWe didn't wait for the countdown but as usual at 12 midnight the horns were blaring & the fireworks were lighting up the night sky ( I suppose - was sleeping by then ), haha!~ I do agree on the patriotism part - am proud to be a Malaysian, wouldn't trade another nation for this land that I'm born inHaha.

I think this year, the fireworks are rather short in time. It used to be more than that. Look at the New Year Day, the fireworks just went off as if they are all free.
