I have a 6 year old son, who is very perceptive, very inquisitive and very deep in what he wants to know. In other words when he asks a question of me, I can guarantee it is not going to be an easy one that I can answer straight away or make a little something up just until I figure it out. Last night my son asked me:-If God created the world, then WHO created God?And those were his exact words. Well I am not religious, I have my own ideas on things and my own beliefs but they are just mine I do not share them with anyone. I only know what I have learnt from school or from reading, I tell my children what I know and that is it, what they choose to believe is entirely up to them. However, I do not know the answer to this question!!! If anyone else does, would be interested to hear the answer or if no one has an answer can you please help me to make something up within believable reason, so that I can satisfy his curiosity or something???

That's a question that I have pondered too Gemini. I don't have an answer I'm afraid. What I do want to know is though. Why do hours spent enjoying yourself pass very quickly. Whilst hours spent not enjoying yourself pass extremely slowly.

Surely God is omnipresent and didn't need to be "created". He just is!

It is a hard question when a six year old asks, it probably would not be if an adult asked me!

i dont think anyone knows the answer to this one.. in fact i remember asking the exact same question when i was little, and the answer i got was no one did, he has always been there.. and of course that i was a bad unfaithful scourge to question such a thing. ..;rolls eyes;.. it does no harm to tell your children very simpley "i dont know" when you really dont know the answer to something instead of making up something false just to appease their curiosities, might even do them some good to see you this way.

Haha! I have not got an answer to that question but just wanted to say that my 4 year old often asks me questions I have not got a clue what the answer is.. why this, why that? many times a day and sometimes I just have to say I do not know because we could have many why's why's following any answer I give.. a few people on the bus find it entertaining but sometimes I am just too tired, I say I don't know LOL Of course if I know a good answer and can make it interesting, I will oblige but I am sure the question will come up again anyway if I don't..

He is always questioning everything, and while it is great that he is so inquisitive I hate it when I cannot answer him!

Yeah, I know those moments when you can't answer what seems to be a reasonably simple question, I tend to stare into space thinking 'ummm, what can I say to that?' and they're looking at you waiting anxiously for the answer, awww!

you know i am so glad i am not you for real lol.. j/k.. but that is a good question something i am going to ask someone about. i wouldn't even know where to begin. but you could asked him if he would like to learn about it. i know might be hard specaily not really being in church and all. but if you know someone who got a good pastor, or priest that might help you out on this. an idea.

You can tell him that God was in existence before anyone or anything was ever created. No one created God because he was just there. That is something that might answer his curious mind, but I know he'll ask for more . Good luck.

Kids do pick our believes whethere we show it or not. Actions are louder than words they say. Well according to Christianity God is eternal, so nobody created God.

Hi gemini, hmm....I guess this is very common inquiry from kids which remain unanswered until this very moment...I can also remember my sister and I asking the same questions with Dad and Mom before! Actually, it was a question we had with classmates and we decided to take it at home! Until now also, I have no idea about the real answer of this!

LOL Sounds like your lovely son and my Niamh are very alike and very persistent! Usually if I don't know something I will tell her that I don't know but I shall try and find out or we both do some research together! I am sure Niamh asked that very same question in almost exactly those words not so long ago and I was flummoxed! Luckily for me my kids both have a lot of faith (I never made them believe anything either and I have always told them that different people believe different things) and when I said that I don't think anyone made God , God just is she accepted that! Think it is the first time she has accepted anything I couldn't prove but boy was I relieved! Hugs xxx

Hello friend. Your son is so cute and is very good at thinking, I think. He has really raised a very difficult question for you to answer. I have no idea how to answer this question of his. But I hope that you will get a very satisfactory answer soon with good luck.

Hello, I am back thought I would see what is happening in the land of mylot, lol, I remember asking that question as a child too, it always baffled me, about who created god. I always use to wonder what happens when you die too. Noone ever answered my question so will be interesting to hear what others hear have to say. Maybe now I can finally find the answer, he he.

For the religious, I think they are to assume that God has always been there? I am not entirely sure myself, and, like your son, I have also thought about it. I do have a suggestion, though. If your son asks you something that, with research, you can answer, look up the answer together. Sit together at the computer, and show him how to look for it. This will teach him how to find and answer questions himself. I have been told that if you put the effort in to researching something yourself rather than getting the answer from someone else, you learn more about the subject and the information stays with you longer.

That is a pretty good suggestion, thanx I could definately do that with him.

Hmm, it's a tough one but you can see his logic!! he;s obviously a smart cookie! Maybe you should just be honest and tell him that you don't know and explain to him that there are some things, like religion, that we will never know the answer to but we just have to believe what is right! I think sometimes maybe children are more astute at this sort of thing than we give them credit for!! It's a good question though, like a philosophical slant on 'what came first, the chicken or the egg?' hehe sorry a can't be more help, it sure is a good job i don't have kids yet, i wouldn't know where to start!! xxx

You have a very cute son gemini_rose Well the question he asked you is a real tricky and very difficult one too. In fact I don't think anyone would be able to answer that question properly except God. The question is a total mystery which no living being on earth would be able to find out i guess. You can tell him no one created GOD he existed on his very own. Tell him son this is one question who no one can answer. So let it be the way it is and you could go ahead and ask me another one.
