Yesterday I had a long discussion with my daughter about good values and morals and the things I am teaching her to become a productive citizen. Why is it some parents don't feel this is necessary? I see it all the time. Have you had discussions similar to mine?

I don't have a teenager yet. My oldest is only seven. But we already have talks like that. Can't start early enough to instill proper values and work habits. I have heard many parents argue to let them be kids why they still can. Those are also the parents whose kids often run wild and have no respect for them. And too many parents want to be their child's best friend in the mistaken believe that such a relationship will prevent the child from getting off the right path without them knowing about it. Just because you think you are your child's best friend doesn't mean they will really confess in you all of their wrongdoings. But as of late I have seen parents shape up again. This whole let your kids do whatever they want to do, you should set no boundaries deal seems to not work out. Amazingly enough, parents who grew up like that realize kids need rules, lol.
