Lynnie,
One of my jobs at Pacifica radio was PSAs (Public Service Announcements). I used for my intro music, "Ringo's Theme" (AKA "This Boy") as I loved the tune, AND Ringo was my favorite. /o)

Twist and Shout - mainly because of Ferris Beuller's Day Off
Here Comes the Sun - easy to sing along to
A day in the life - again easy to remember and sing along to
There is actually so many songs I love from the beatles - in fact can't think of a single one I don't like

I can -- but it's the ONLY one! "Why Don't We Do It In the Road?"
Now! HERE's a question: Have any of you ever heard a cover of any Beatle song that was done BETTER than the Beatles did it? I HAVE! "Helter Skelter," as done by the a capella group, "The Bobs!"
If you can find a copy, get it; it's THRILLING. In fact, I'd bet you my entire collection even Paul & Ringo would agree!

Some good choices there. I loved Ferris Beuller. Scrubs is on TV right now & they are playing Eight Days a Week. I had forgotten that one. Not my favorite but wasn't bad either!!!

2 - Let It Be
3 - Yesterday

These are my favorites because they bring back good memories for me, like many songs they have an association with a certain person or time in our lives that we can relate to.

I agree with Hey Jude. I do love Yesterday. I think my third might be While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Or is it...
Hell, they give me soooo many memories, I just can't choose.

Oh goodness, how can I help you decide when I can't even decide for myself? hahaha They had so many great songs. As for why I like the songs, I guess because they were songs from The Beatles, they were just such a new type of group and new type of music. In no particular order:
1. Yesterday
2. We Can Work It Out
3. Things We Said Today
Oh how hard was that........should have been maybe top 30. hahahaha

I'm a Beatle fanatic since I first heard their music Let it Be. It was really this song that captivated me and urged me to know and yearn to listen to all of their songs even though they've already disbanded long time ago. I really like all their songs, especially those in the White and Abbey Road album. Incidentally, my most favorites came not from those albums but from their other albums. Specifically I like While my guitar gently weeps because of the lyrics and the pulsating riffs done by George's friend, Eric Clapton, in the interlude, and of course, Hey Jude.

Yeah! It's really hard to pick only three most loved Beatles music. Just to extend the list to at least 10 I would choose Come Together, I saw her standing there, Sgt. Peppers, Two of Us, Rocky Racoon, Yesterday, In my life, All you need is love, Pennylane, Long and Winding Road, etc. It's really a pity that they stopped touring and doing concerts when they released Sgt. Peppers until they disbanded. More unfortunate was the collapsed of the planned reunion concert when John was mudered in 1980. I understand all of the four have already agreed to do it, but fate ended that most awaited moment. Anyway, their songs will surely live on even beyond our lifetime and the generations to come.

I'm NOT even sure I could stop at 10. When I think of the impact that they have made, I think of all the parents who tried to have them banned...the government who tried to deport John...and ALL the other obstacles they overcame to give us all this pleasure. I do think fate had a hand in all of it!!!

Excellent choices there!!!
I think While My Guitar Gently Weeps is probably my number 1 pick
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds as #2 & Hey Jude as #3. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind.

1. Maxwell's Silver Hammer - Sort of Oompah song
2. Hey Jude - doesn't everybody?
3. Octopuse's Garden - Because I like it
All three may be changed at any given moment and replaced by another one that I like. Am writing this with difficulty. Yu know why!

They went through a number of different phases so this is not an easy question to answer at all! If I was to outline three songs they did of the top of my head that I have always enjoyed then they would be:
1. Eleanor Rigby
2. Let it be
3. I am the Walrus
They released so many great songs and although I have not been a huge fan of theirs that has bought all their records or anything I think we have all been influenced by them in some way or another.

Yes, it is extremely difficult to choose only 3. I think it would be equally as difficult to choose only 10. The Beatles did some GREAT work whether you're a die hard fan or not. You chose some good songs there. THANK YOU!!!

I was a huge beatle fan and I really can't answer this question. I had too many favorites. I saw them on the ed sullivan show the first time they appeared. I was just a little girl. I was hooked. By the time john lennon was killed, they'd lost their magic for me. I did love John Lennon and some of george's stuff but I wasn't the fan that I once was. Now I occassionally listen to their stuff and it brings back so many memories. My 14 yr old daughter and her friends think they are the greatest. "hey jude" is pretty popular with them. Then again...they also listen to david cassidy and frank sinatra.

What a GREAT daughter you must have!!! It took me until I was 50 to learn to appreciate Frank Sinatra. I was a little too old for David Cassidy when he was popular, but I did enjoy looking at him, He doesn't look too bad for an old man even now.
I found it impossible to narrow The Beatles down to 3. Hell, I found it impossible to barrow it down to 25. I am finding everybody's choices interesting to say the least!!!

I'm still a Beatles freak, LadyM. Sigh. Yup, still listening, even to this very day, as we speak. I love so many, it's so hard to decide on any 12, much less any 3, but here goes:
1. I Will
2. Across the Universe
3. Please Please Me
I don't think that there are too many here who will go as far back as Please Please Me, but I love that really old stuff of theirs. I love all of it.
So why are you trying to decide your 3 favorites, darlin? Are you compiling some sort of catalog? Just curious...

I remember the first time they played Please Please Me on the radio. I did a discussion on the movie Across the Universe & it got me to thinking about The Beatles & their music. When I got to thinking about which songs were my favorites, I couldn't choose just one. When I started this discussion, I first ask which is your favorite & decided NO WAY to have a top fav so I changed to top 3. I'm compiling a catalog in my brain & just couldn't decide on my favorites, so I asked for help!!!

I really liked that movie, LadyM. I was very unsure about it, but since I love the Beatles like nothing else in the world, I watched it. And I absolutely loved it. Made me laugh, made me cry, and boy oh boy, did it ever make me sing! Good thing I was alone when I watched it.
No way can I come up with only 3 Beatles songs that I love or that are my top fave. Inevitably, one gets forgotten. Or it's one by Paul or John that they did after the Beatles split up. Like the song Junk on the McCartney album. God, I love that song!!!! Do you know it? Huh, huh?

My favorite for a loooooong time was I Feel Fine. I loved that long beginning note. I don't know why; I guess whenever I heard it, it would make me want the rest of the song to start. Anticipation does amazing things!
Hmmm, lessee... two others? Geez. Good Day, Sunshine has always been a favorite of mine, only because it so upbeat. It always made me feel good.
Man! There are SOOOO many!!! I think my third favorite would be a tossup between When I'm 64 and Maxwell's Silver Hammer, because they're so catchy.
Oh, wait!!! I forgot all about Martha, My Dear!!!! Man, how could I forget THAT??? That's my real name so, of course, I adore that song. Yeah, I know it was written about a dog, Paul McCartney's English Sheepdog, but I don't mind sharing a song with a dog!

Okay, this is some kind of omen or something. I just watched the Beatles' movie, "A Hard Day's Night". It was sooooooooo awesome to see it again after too many years!
My husband also mentioned my record album collection last night. Where do I want to put it? (I have every single album that the Beatles put out, plus one of John and Yoko's and George's.)
Now that and re-reading this discussion of yours and all of the responses has made me want to dust off the old turntable! There's just something about vinyl with all it's scratches and bumps!
Thank's so much, Lady, for bringing back old memories!!!

Oh LadyM, why don't you make the question a little more
difficult!lol With all those songs you only want 3! Ok,
I'll try 3. First, And I Love Her, I started singing that
one in my head right away. Has beautiful words and melody.
(like they all do!) Second, Yesterday-Same reason as the
first song! Third-This is tough because it's the last choice
your making me pick only 3!!! Hmmmm I got it Imagine- It
was John Lennon and he was my favorite Beatle-I was truly
devastated when I heard that he was killed. His birthday
was one day before mine-October 9th-mine is October 10th.
I have been to "Strawberry Fields" in Central Park many
times and also to the "Dakota" where he was gunned down.
I live in NY-45 minutes from the City itself. So sad.
Ok, LadyM-You got your 3 choices! I still think that the
Beatles will be my all time favorite group! Hands Down! or
Hands Up! I was 13 the first time I saw them on the
"ED Sullivan show. Do you remember???

YES, I remember. I'm NOT that old. I, too, was 13 the first time they were on Ed Sullivan. I remember laughing & stating I'll NEVER date a guy with hair longer than mine. 10 years later my boyfriend had hair down to his waist. When I first started this discussion, I had asked for the favorite song. I stopped before hitting submit & said NO WAY & changed it to your top 3. Imagine, Give Peace a Chance, & Beautiful Boy were 3 of my favs of John's.

Wow, top 3 songs eh? This is going to be a hard day's night of thinking.
1. A day in the life (I think it's one of the most creative piece of music ever written. I like the way they put two unrelated songs together by John and Paul and yet somehow it fits so well. The serious and the fun.
2. Hey Jude (This song from when I first heard it till now, just radiates courage, hope, and that one can do anything. We shouldn't let anything that comes our way kill our dreams)
3. When I'm sixty-four (This is really a fun song and now 64 is not too far away. Who ever thought I'd get there)
Needless to say, that there are very few songs that I don't like. Recently I saw the movie Across the Universe and the song Hold Me Tight just grabbed my attention and I can't stop dancing. hehehe

We must be about the same age. NEVER dreamed I'd get to be 64. Across the Universe is what started this journey of The Beatles. I was having a hard time of even coming up with my Top 10 so I thought it might be interesting to see what my friends here found to be the Top 3. Since I asked the question, I think...
1) While My Guitar Gently Weeps
2) Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds
3) Hey Jude
Of course, I might change my mind tomorrow.

Hey Jude
Let it Be
Here Comes the Sun
This is a tough one, I grew up on the Beatles so I have some other faves too:
Come Together
Don't Let me down
From me to you
The reason I love these songs- they weren't as "fluffy" as Yellow Submarine and some of the Beatles earlier stuff.
Tons of good memories with this music too!

Egadzooks. Only THREE?!?
Hmmm...
Here Comes the Sun, because it was the song we (Pacifica radio, FM, Houston, 1969) played when we returned to the air after being bombed by the KKK. It was as wonderful as watching the sun rise after a hard, cold night, hearing that.
Fixing a Hole, because it came at a time when I'd really learned to appreciate getting my head straight. And I like the tune.
Blackbird. Just because it's so damned lovely.
And about a hundred others....!
