When we say that Jesus is God we are talking about God coming to earth in hu man form as Jesus. He is the father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. St. Patrick explained this with a shamrock. There are three different leaves of the plant, yet it's the same thing. As with God. There are three parts to him, but One God.

Not many people know about St Patrick and how he used a shamrock to help explain The Trinity.
Another analogy I've heard people use is water. Water can be a solid, a liquid and condensation. I forget the actual word used for the last form water can be and for that I'm embarrassed and apologize. Of course, water can't be all these forms at the same time as The Father, Son and Holy Spirit can be, but, it gets the idea across.
Take care!

Firstly, we do not pray 'for' Jesus or 'for' God. We pray 'to' Jesus and 'to' God.
Secondly, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one and the same, so, basically when you are praying to Jesus you are praying to God.
This doesn't make any sense does it? Well, there are many things that God has told us in His Holy Book that don't make any sense. Our minds are too limited to be able to take all of His knowledge and understand it. Even if He did take the time to explain everything to us we would just look at Him with this foolish grin on our faces and say........."Duhhhhh?" His knowledge is just too superior for us to behold and comprehend.
As Christians we have to trust Him and know that all that He's doing for us is for our own benefit. He wants what's best for us. We trust in our human parents in the same way.
If you are a Christian as you say you are read The Bible and talk with your pastor abut these things.

You explained it really well. You are right that our minds cannot grasp the full capacity of his wisdom and knowledge.

God is One, yet Three in One. God is the Father. God is the Son. God is the Holy Spirit. He is a triune God. This is hard to explain, but the best explanation I have ever heard is that of the chemical H2O which is water. H2O is also ice. H2O is also steam. Three, yet one.
In God's attempt to reach out to humanity to save us, He Himself came to earth in human form as Jesus Christ. He is one in the same. Jesus is God in the flesh. Now God is with us by the Holy Spirit. God and Jesus are not separate entities. They are One. Not just in likeness of mind, but in the fullness of God. God created us. God loved us and wanted to pay the debt for our sins so He did so in the only way that would assure our salvation. He came to earth in human form as the baby in the manger, Jesus.

let's based it a old testament, that people worship God and give their offering and sacrifices to the the levites they are the mediator and the only has the right to enter at the most holy place of the temple, at time chance their are became sinner and corrupt too and not fit anymore for that position, at at the new testament God sent Jesus and which is the 1 of the 3 personalities of God as the new mediator He say, "no one can enter to the father but except by me" and no more offering has ever been accepted except are whole life and body and whole heart, and in that way theirs we cannot cheat anymore to bring sacrifices to God.

I've always been told that God is the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit...
I was also confused at first, but then I understood Jesus is God, and his only son, made man...
Hope this doesnt confuse you, I was quite sure about my answer, but then... writting it is more complicated.!

Do you mean praying for or praying to God? It's my understanding that you pray to God in Jesus name. As far as Jesus being God, they are one. For me it's like being an identical twin who started as one fertilized egg which split and became two. Twins DNA is 100% identical, but their fingerprints are different. God and Jesus are identical, but what identifies them, like fingerprints, is different. I know that's not a very good analogy, but it's the best I can do.

I was confused to this before too. But now i pray to God, the Father and end this in "in Jesus name, i pray." Jesus is the mediator. He is also God.

Why do we pray in Jesus' name? I hope I am understanding your question right.
In John 3: 16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
This verse is telling us that we must believe in Jesus in order to be saved...have eternal life.
In John 16:23, In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
Jesus was telling his disciples that he will be leaving them soon but whatever they ask in his name it will be given to them by his Father, God.
This can also be found in John 14:13-14, And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it.
***Explaining the trinity.... basically there is one God with 3 conversing distinct ways to reveal himself, "personalities".
God the Father (Gen.1-2,Ex 20,Ex 39:9, Kings 8:27, Mal 3:6, Matt 10:29-30,
John 4:24, John 5:26, Acts 4:34-35........there's more )
God the Son (John 1:18, John 20:28-30, Acts 7:59, Rom 9:5, Rom 10:9-13,
2 Cor 12:7-9, Col.1:15-17, Heb. 1:1-12......there's more)
God the Spirit (John 14:16-26, John 15:26-27, John 16: 7-15, Acts 5:3-4)
All 3 together... Matt 28:19, Rom 8, Rom 15:17-29, 2 Cor 13:14, Eph 1:3-14,
2 Thess 2:13-14, 1 Peter 1:2, Rev.1:4-5
God is beyond our thinking....our comprehension. I believe that is why it's so hard for some to believe in the trinity.
This is an easier way for me to explain it but I'm sure it can be explained better.
