Would you rather take more short trips, or one big trip?

If you had the choice, would you rather spread your money out and take more smaller trips, or save it all up and take one big trip somewhere? I would love to go to Hawaii, but don't know when that will ever be possible. Taking smaller trips is something we can do ever now and then when my husband gets a lot of overtime money. If we tried to save it all up right now it'd take 20 years to get enough to go to Hawaii..lol. The small trips at least get us out of the house and we relax and get away from the stress.

In the past I took longer trips of months or a year and these days I take short trips of up to two weeks a time. I now have two dogs so I would choose many short trips because even with the best care my dogs would miss me if I went away for three months. I went to Hawaii when I traveled around the world when I was 20. The North Shore had very high waves and it was interesting to go whale watching. It was sad but moving to go to Pearl Harbor. I went on a camping trip last week and that was a relaxing break away from all the stress. Good luck saving up for more traveling.

My longest trip was lasted from February 1993 to April 1994 so that was a 14 month journey that I did around the world. My second longest trip lasted from November 2001 to March 2002 so that was a 5 month trip. On that I went to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. I feel a week is too short, 10 days is better and 14 days is great. 21 days would be even nicer I feel. I think 3 or 4 days is a short break.

Wow! You have taken some long trips. I bet they were really fun. It would be nice to be able to do that.

The longest trip we've ever went on was two weeks, and half that was spent driving..lol. Our normal vacations are only a week. The little trips are just 2 or 3 days.

I think I would rather save my money and take a larger trip. Like maybe spend a week or two in Europe, visiting many different countries.

This summer I flew to Latvia and spent two weeks traveling around there, Lithuania and Estonia.

If I could really do what I wanted, I'd like to do both. Take small trips frequently, and save or a big trip every year or so.

I would rather take a much needed long trip for a while. To get away for a while. I wouldn't mind taking the short trips though. It would be nice if we even had the money for a short trip! :)

We took some OT money of my husbands and went to Gatlinburg this summer for 3 days. It certainly was fun. Sometimes a few days is all you need.

I would rather take one big trip how ever often we could swing it financially than take smaller trips. That's because I've so enjoyed our big trips and have other places I want to go that will cost quite a bit. I don't know how much you've checked on Hawaii but they have some incredibly good package deals to go there. I've not been there but I go to travel booking sites occasionally. I sometimes research trips on those sites just to get an idea of how much money it would require. That helps me set a goal about how much money the trip will take. Anyway, hope you get that trip to Hawaii.

We really hope everyone can make it. There are 7 of them in all and they haven't been together since my husband was a child! It will be nice for them all to have Christmas together again.

I haven't looked it up before just for the heck of it. Right now we couldn't even take a small trip...lol. We are going to try and save up money so we can go be with my husbands family around Christmas this year. That's where all the extra money will go for the next few months.

I totally agree with you,you know you earn money is not very easy some times, but we must go out of the door, going to the open air is attitude to the life,we must enjoy our life, although we have some limit to what we want to do,we have the right to enjoy traveling,we have not enough money,so we can just take short trip

Yep, even a one day trip is enough to help you regroup and relax, which is always a good thing. It's never good to stay stressed and overworked for years.

I would have to say i would rather spread the trips out into several small ones. You can see so much more, and you wont get bored as easily.

That is true. I love seeing new places and finding out what's there. I wish we could take more small trips.

beautiful Bulgaria, beautiful girls, beautiful sun - I get to travel once a year to see places and countries i have never seen before. We love to travel but can only really afford one trip a year, so we make it a good one
blessed be
we have one trip away per year. We dont have short trips at all, because to do so would mean we really couldnt afford trips of a longer nature. Last year we went to Bulgaria, new york the year before. I would love to go to India too. None of this would be possible if we took short trips. I guess whatever makes each one of us happy blessed be

So true. To each their own they say. Doing whatever vacations we are able and can afford is best. Everyone is different and so we have different ways of doing things that make us happy.

What i like to do is make one long trip into abunch of short ttrips. By stopping at different places on th way. Checking out the sites. It is so much more fun that making a long trip and not stopping. of course goig to hawaii, would be hard to do that.

oh, i agree. sadly when my daughter got married in hawaii i could not attend. she went there as her husband-to-be was stationed in honolulu. they essentially did this to qualify for married housing. my parents were both ill and it was so expensive. i can relax and get away from stress by just leaving my home and going to john's lake home. it's in the mountains about 30 minutes from me. it is so evident to me that i feel like my senses are getting a massage. all the stress and worry leave me. i spend my mornings with a cup of coffee and watch the woodland critters. i don't have a worry in the world when i am there. maybe you'll get very lucky and win the powerball !

LOL, now that would be nice. There are so many people I'd be able to help if I won the lottery. Your lake home sounds wonderful and relaxing. We love spending time in the woods hiking and such.
