why can't the bullpen get it right?

The Mets bullpen genuinely confuses me. There were times earlier in the season where they seemed to click. Now, it's all a mess. Yet Johan Santana and Mike Pelfrey have pitched a few complete games recently to give them time to rest. You figure they would pull it together. Plus this pitching coach has done such a good job with the starters. Why can't he seem to turn this pen around?
