dreams with people who've passed away

I am not that superstitious and I'm not one to believe in ghosts. But I've had three dreams in the course of my life that I had people who've already passed away talk to me.
When I was in high school, just as I arrived at the local airport in the Philippines, my dad who picked me up told me that my uncle's wife finally passed away from cancer and other complications. We just dropped off my luggage at our house and went directly to my uncle's house for the wake, an hour's drive. That night, I decided not to approach the casket as I didn't want to. And I ended up spending the night in my cousin's room and had this dream with my dead aunt very happy to see me and said that she didn't know I was already here because I didn't say hello. That morning, I went directly to her casket and said hello.
A year later, my paternal grandmother that I was close to passed away. A few weeks after her burial, I had a dream where I was asleep and she was just brushing my long hair the whole time. I used to brush my grandmother's hair whenever she stays for a visit.
A year ago, a high school friend passed away. I didn't get to go to his burial as it happened in the Philippines. I was also going through a tough time then and when I had this dream, my friend and I were just talking about my life and he was basically telling me that everything will be okay.
Maybe it was my conscience or subconscious that led to these dreams, I can't really say. But I always felt better after. It's like I get to say goodbye in my own way. The only time I felt shivers was when I dreamt of my grandmother.
Have you ever had dreams similar to these? What did it make you feel? What do you think causes these dreams?

a few weeks after my hubby passed away, i dreamed he came to me and i was saying oh my im so glad. i had thought you were gone and he said no, just let me hold you. i was so happy and he grabbed my hand and got up from where we'd been sitting and said come with me. i dont like being without you. and my daughter was suddenly there saying, NO!NO! but i was going anyway. then i woke up.

So your daughter stopped you from going with your husband. My dad once had a dream about my uncle who just passed away too, convincing him to go with him to an old part of their family farm. He didn't go with him, instead he went back to the house to check on us, his kids. Thanks for sharing bunnybon7.

I've never had dreams about a loved one that passed away, until one of my best friends passed from cancer a few years ago. I have had people tell me that he is visiting me, and if that is the case, I feel blessed that he does come to visit. I don't know what causes these dreams, but I have noticed that there isn't a pattern as to when the dreams come...but that I do dream about him at least once a month, sometimes more. Maybe it is because I really miss him a lot, or maybe he is coming to visit, either way I am glad that I do have these dreams because then I won't forget about him.

I'm sorry to hear about your close friend. I don't really know for sure why we have dreams about our loved ones that have already gone but like you, I think it's probably because we think about them a lot and miss them so much or they do indeed want to visit us and tell us something. Either way, we always will remember them. Take care.

I've experienced dreams where Deceased relatives have been with Me there, but I haven't experienced anything like where they're coming to let me know anything about what things are like..it's just been someplace with companionable surroundings, and they're there..It's said nobody is truly gone as long as there's someone to remember them..These people who were a big part of you left an impression on you,Your upbringing, and your life..Your mind hasn't forgotten them, though you may not be consciously thinking of them all the time...Dreams are how the mind resolves or tries to resolve issues you're thinking about on an unconscious level..

Thanks ShepherdSpy. I really like what you said about nobody being truly gone as long as there is someone to remember them.

I think this just means you are thinking of the person that has passed. It happens to alot of us. Especially if we miss the person. I was very close to my grandmother. She passed in 1991. I still have dreams about her. It is one way the memory of them gets to last.

Thanks ersmommy... I agree that dreaming of a deceased loved one is another way the memory of them gets to last. Take care.

I can't recall ever having a dream such as yours but I'm sure that I have. I've always heard that the deceased will come to visit us in our dreams, to check in and let us know they are there and letting us know they are okay. I'm assuming that's why you felt so good after having those dreams because you know they really are okay.

I'd like to think that they're all okay. Before all these happened, I was always worried that a deceased loved one would appear to me and that thought always scared me. Now, it doesn't worry me anymore. Thanks for posting.

Yes, and although I do not care to go into any details specific to myself, I would say in general that I think what is causing them is that there are other ways of knowing and of communicating that modern science can explain and that when we dream we do visit other realms so to speak. That is not to say that every dream is prophetic or prescient or present in another dimension, but that some are and it is nothing to fear. It is often for our own protection.

Thanks drannhh. I have to say that talking to an old friend and having him tell me I will be okay was very comforting, even if it was in what most of us consider a dream.
