Hey guys is it true that a human placenta can be served as a food? For me, it sounds weird. All I know is experts uses this for beauty purposes as an ingredients for some beauty products but this is what i've got as I watch our television set, human placenta is served as food in some restaurants in other countries. Is it true? Have you tried eating or tasting it?

I did not know of human placenta being used as a food. I am aware that it used to be a part of lot of baby products as it was thought that the placenta is the best thing for babies and it has everything that a baby requires to be nourished.
I have no idea whether this is true as well.
Cheers!

i knew it was a food. in fact, it is the only meat product that vegetarians can eat because it doesnt kill an animal in the process. well, as far as i know anyway. its kind of a nasty thought knowing that someone could be eating something that came from inside me, but then again the thought of eating snail or liver never appealed to me much either.

Disgusting as I find it, yes, a baby's placenta is often used for food. In some Asian countries it is made into a soup, and it is considered good luck for the family to partake in the meal made from it. And yes, is is put in some beauty products, including shampoo. I remember several years ago it was learned that a shampoo company was actually using aborted fetuses in the making of their shampoo. Once that came to light and people had a fit, they took that ingredient out of their shampoo formula.
