Anyone read The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns?

I'm interested to hear what other people thought if they read the two titles mentioned in the discussion subject by Khaled Hosseini. I've read both and firstly have to say that Khaled Hosseini is brilliant and talented writer in my opinion. Perhaps unusually, I read A Thousand Splendid Suns first, and found it moving and inspiring therefore I couldn't put it down! However, I read The Kite Runner afterwards, and although still good, I was slightly disappointed as I didnt feel that connection for the character, whom I felt was a coward, I never willed him to do better unlike the two Afghan women in A Thousand Splendid Suns. What are other peoples thoughts and comparisons on them both?? Also, I wondered if anyone knew of any similar writers to Hosseini? I enjoyed his books immensely and Ill soon be stuck for something to read again after my current book!

Both books were wonderful and somewhat disturbing, to say the least, and I loved them. There are a number of other authors who deal with similar stories, but I don't know of any who compare, even a little.

Yes disturbing is definitely the word I'd use for this. A Thousand Splendid Suns made me shake with anger in some parts. Now thats when you know you are reading a good book!!
