Another question I am asking;
Can and will Federer win the 2008 US Open?
Can he? Well obviously he can!
Will he? Yes. I think it is finally his time to win this year and he will be winning with the kinda form he is in. He is in blazing form and he has shown that he can step up his game even when he is down and out (which he was prior to the tournament).

i would love to challenge your definite answers regarding federer winning his 5th consecutive US open, with questions as well.
did federer beat nadal in the alst two grand slams?
did federer played his best in the all england club?
if yes, why was he beaten by nadal then? or perhaps is nadal more superior than him this year?
is king rafa playing good and unbelievable tennis this year? this is pretty obvious to everyone, winning two grand slams, winning in the olympics and other tournaments also. at the present tournament, nadal started sluggish but after then he had dispatched (so far) anyone at his path with no sweat. so i cannot say that federer will have an easy ride into the finals considering, djokovic is playing good tennis (i said good since he struggled lately in his last match) and nadal is playing better games right at this moment and easily cruised to the 4th round.
so the point here is, it's a day by day basis that there isn't so much to back up everyone who would take home the last grand slam of the season.

First of, I appreciate someone coming and defending our answers on Roger Federer.
Secondly, Federer did not play at his best at Wimbledon at all. Did you see his form prior to the tournament? He wasn't in good form at all. He was infact in probably one of the his worst spells of bad form during the tournament.
Nadal is better than him this year, yes. Nadal has taken to the court and has played in tune with Roger's bad form and thus has been winning all year this year.
The thing is though, Federer has stepped up his game. He is back to his old self. Have you seen the kind of shots he is playing now? They are evident of his tennis in the last few years and I now am confident that this is finally Roger's tournament! His grand slam.. his one and only of the year!

going 5 sets and eventually bowing out to nadal in wimbledon is not playing at his best at all? a few weeks back before wimbledon, he won the gerry weber which is often his preparatory if not the stella artois but again, the point really is that, he have been so erratic in his games since his bouts with the mononucleosis. he never was in his form, his stamina and his determination to succeed dwindles so much at the bottom.
Second, it's not nadal's fault that he took advantage of federer's situation (as you portray it) but i guess it's a matter of who gonna remain strong all throughout. Nadal has been chasing him for 2 years now in the top spot, he had those many incidents that he wasn't able to live at his opponents brilliance in this sport. Yet a strong heart and the determination to succeed doesn't leave with nadal's every failure, in fact, it motivates him to do more the next time until he catches up with federer. i still couldn't say that roger is back in his original form, that is still a thing to find out when the US open culminates this sunday. until he hasn't raised the trophy in flushing meadows then he is still not back to what we thought the invincible federer express.!!

Going 5 sets in Wimbledon was cause he is a really good player even when in bad form. He was in totally bad form even in the final and because Nadal was incapable of keeping his good form and lasting through the match, he did not win it in 3 sets. If Nadal was really good then he would have won it in 3 sets but Federer did an almost impossible comeback and made it to 5 sets but cause he was making too many unforced areas and was having a bad patch and Nadal attacked him too much, he lost.
I agree with what you said about Nadal that he has remained strong throughout and it is not his fault to attack Federer's weaknesses. I disagree about Federer though. Have you seen him play so far at Flushing Medows? He is back to his best. He is on top of the game and I am sure he will get to the semi-finals with ease. Then the test of his form will come but I am sure he will beat whoevver he plays (most probably Djokovic!)

Yes. Nole? Are you talking about Novak Djokovic? Well yes... he will be a challenge but Federer will beat him. Nadal on the other hand will again have the speed factor but this time for once this year, I think Federer can overcome it and win his first Grand Slam of the year!

I have to agree with you? Have you been watching the Open? He is in great, dominating form lately. I don't think he has really been challenged yet though, and should be soon. I do like him though, so I hope he wins it! I think his recent poor form was just temporary, and we are seeing him back to normal.

Yeah. His form this year was horrible but I too believe it was a temporary dip in form. He is going to win the US Open and then he will win the Shanghai Masters and regain his Number 1 ranking from Rafael Nadal by the end of the year!
He has had no problems, no worries so far in this US Open but the real test will be against Djokovic! Lets see him beats Djokovic in 4 sets or maybe even in 3!
